I'm not convinced this could be solved without guessing. Show me the way. Level 4-2

Here is the quandary I was in.[imgur.com] The only number touching the two cells I can choose is the {3}, and I have shown in paint both options that are viable solutions. Legend: B is the block I'm choosing to click and mark as Blue.

Both solutions use the last remaining Blue tile. Both solutions don't have extra tiles touching. There are no column numbers or hints I didn't consider. The only information I have available is that the {3} tile, and that one more tile needs to be blue.

Don't get me wrong, I would rather be corrected and learn a new strategy.

There are no unsolvable Hexcells levels.

Where you were stuck, there's a {3} that you could have acted on.

Hint: Always look not just for where you can put a blue, but where you can take away yellow cells.

Also with only one remaining blue cell, you know it can't be the one that's not even by the {3} at all.

Don't try to prematurely solve the whole puzzle. Always uncover all the cells you can, black or blue, and see what numbers show up when you do. There is always enough information to make the NEXT step.

I see it now. Although either cell could be blue, the cell north of {3} can't be blue, because it isn't consecutive. Frustrating because I had used that strategy already in a few puzzles.

Kudos to Hexcells infinite for teaching this principal in the third level!
