How active is the multiplayer mode?
So, i have this game on my wishlist for quite some time, but i won't buy a game during Early Access.
Now that it got released, the current players are ~160. I would love to play coop with 7 other players. How many good filled servers are there ?

ATM I always see 1-2 open games at all times (without counting running games)

Edit:
Changed over 10 games running always people in the lobby waiting

No shortage of games at the moment, hop right in!

I love this game, so I'm playing constantly (helping noobs learn to not die so fast) and there hasn't been once since release that I've logged on and not been able to get into a full or nearly full game in minutes.

You should not have any problems finding full games now that it's launched. If you buy it now you will either:

1) Play enough full games to learn you love it, and then spend hundreds of hours playing it. I've spent about 700 hours playing MP and I'd say at least 80% of that time was in full games. That was with the pre-launch playerbase which was a very small community.

2) You'll play lots of full games until something better comes along and then jump ship. In the mean time you won't have any problems finding full games.

this is the whole thing that stopped me from buying this game all the times it has been on sale.

a look at steamcharts, and you can see that the population was 10-30 players for a year.
it's 250 players right now on a saturday during the sale. with an average of under 30 players.

game looks fun but i'd think about it if you plan to play with random people.
might be the kind of thing that becomes frustrating to find a good game if you don't have like 3 friends playing on voice chat.

There is an extensive Single Player Campaign and now you can do multiplayer with bots that you control.

There's always a game open if you don't mind playing with randoms. If you like the game join the community, you will always have a group to join.

Thanks for your questions.
We had some periods during EA that had a small playerbase but currently there are always open games and it is rare that you have to wait for an game.
Besides that community is very active and always up for an game. Just ask for an friendship ;)

That's what the unofficial Teamspeak server is for. We're building a strong, active and friendly community to be able to offer organzied games for serious challenges and higher difficulties as well as just the random PUG games to have some fun.

Server address is ts.game-com.de, give it a shot. We have EU and US timezones covered pretty well. :)

so, after extensivly playing since 2 days now; i can confrim that i was never ever in a situation where i couldn`t find a game...even better yet 90% players are realy friendly (noob-friendly), just encountered the typical social-clown once or twice.
overall one of the most fun times i`ve ever had playing an online game.
