Game won't launch

I have a slightly different issue than most. The game doesn't launch for me at all, but it does show up as a running process in Windows Task Manager. No other indication that it's running though. I have to end the task manually each time I attempt to run it. I also tried verifying game files, reinstalling to C: drive, running as admin, and a clean install of Visual C++. No luck. My specs are:

Windows 8.1 x64
NVidia GeForce GTX 770 2GB
(I've tried with the DVI and HDMI outputs at 1920x1200 and 1080p)
GeForce Drivers v344.11
8GB DDR3 RAM
MSI z77a-g45 Gaming Edition motherboard

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Capcom won't answer my emails...

did you run \Steam\SteamApps\common\deadrising3\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\dxsetup.exe ?

im assume that a "clean install of visual c++" meant D:\Steam\SteamApps\common\deadrising3\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2012\vc_redistx64.exe

but i'll add it in the comment anyway. I also notice the game weirdly has
D:\Steam\SteamApps\common\deadrising3\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010\vc_redistx64.exe

maybe you have to install that aswell? idk. Might be worth a shot
