Save Data gone!
I woke up this morning, hoping to kill some zombies before Comicon, then BAM "Start new game"

I been playing this and saving contstantly since it came out yesterday. It's suddenly gone.

I found the save data folder in My Documents and it's suddenly not there.

I am uninstalling the game and installing it again, hoping it'll be back to the way it was....

Anyone else having this problem?

Same issue. Played last night for 6 hours, saved the game and quit. Loaded it up this morning and it first asks to adjust the gamma, then I went to load my saved game and I only have the option for new game.

However, when I start the new game, my zombie kill count, unlocks, special moves and combo cards have all carried over. So, it's like it saved my player stats but not my actual progress through the story mode.

Also, I am now getting crash to desktop within a few minutes of starting the game.

I tried verifying the data in steam and it showed no issues. I also uninstalled and reinstalled the game, same issue.

Before this, I had no issues at all.

There's another thread about this, and while I don't know what's up with your particular issue OP, but for anyone who can't continue but still has the unlock progress (PP etc.) here's what worked for me:

For me, I started on one PC and then continued on another, which prompted the Steam Cloud saves to download to my PC. I wasn't able to continue my game, but after following the instructions in another thread (disable cloud saves, and delete the saves in the Dead Rising 3 my documents folder after backing them up elsewhere) I was able to initiate the Continue option.

However, I saved a copy of my old save files and compared them to the newly generate files by the game. The capitalization was removed from the steam cloud saves in both the file names and extensions.

Normally this doesn't matter for most things, but I copied the names from the game generated saves over to my steam cloud saves that had all my progress, and then I pasted those saves back into My Documents/My Games/Dead Rising 3 Folder.

Booted up the game and BAM I have all my progress and am able to continue from where I last left off.

Could just be a coincidence that the capitalization thing had any effect, and maybe there's another save thing somewhere that stores whether or not you can initiate a continue, but whatever, I'm able to continue my progress now, and I didn't lose any of my work.

Hope this helps someone in the same boat. Spent a lot of time looking for answers this morning, so maybe this will save someone else some trouble.

After referencing Goldanas post, I ended up going into my files where I had dead rising 3 saved and launched the game from the .exe there instead of steam. For some reason that fixed the issue and my data was restored but I don't see why it did. Hope this helps!
