Reinstall doesn't help. Game *is* running, but inaccessible(task manager lists it under the background processes category).
amd fx 6 core processor 3.5ghz
8.00 gb memory
geo force gtx560
Same thing is happening to me right now even tho ive played 3 hours up untill this point without any problem,ALTHO when i exited the game it just seemed to freeze and i had to control alt tab and delete and just before this happened something popped up which said cloud save something or other isnt same as local or something along those lines.
Ive also tryed integrity check and run as admin but am not prepared to reinstall as yet as it took me something like 2 days to download :/ .
As others have said its runninf as background process now only.
I dont know if it was a conicidence or it was these things i did but i also found out when playing with xbox360 pad if i hammer my mouse button as i exit the game it exits ok now and doesnt stay stuck on the exit screen.
Glad i didnt uninstall :).
This game is totally awsome as well and i feel sorry for those having problems with it as its the BEST zombie game ive played.
(Altho i still cant change my res to 1400 900 im gonna wait for patch i think and not screw around incase i break it again or something.
So I did a combination of this and setting a new render file to this and lo and behold, it actually booted. I've been trying to reproduce the problem, but it's no longer launching as a background process thanks to RazerTooth's suggestion. However crashing now occurs for me(loads into the menu just fine then crashes within a few minutes) and it seems that a wonky render settings file is the cause.
Specifically, setting your ScreenWidth, ScreenHeight, WindowWidth, and WindowHeight to your resolution *AND* making sure that you set the file to read only afterwards.
Its such a superb game tho when you can play it and despite these problems its by far the best zombie game ive played to date and is actually like i thought state of decay may of been like.
Awsome game but still needs some serious patching i guess.
Im glad all the same tho these games are making there way to pc as i had no intentions whatsoever of buying an xbox1 and a perhaps slim chance of getting a ps4 in future.
For now my trusty ps vita and pc are the perfect combination for me.
Anyways, here:
Everything under gamma, you'll have to experiment with to get the right mix of performance and quality for your setup. And just now noticed the shadow res option... gonna see if setting that to low will improve(or break) the game
