Possible Fix for Black Screen Co-op
Problem: I join my brother's game through steam. Once I load in I can see him in real time, however after trying to spawn, I would get black screen even though i spawned in his screen. I had my game at 1920x1080p for resolution but my quality was at 720p.

Fix: I changed resolution to 1280x720p and kept quality at 720p. My brother changed his Hz to 59 and so did I. Then restarted game and joined. It works now. We tried 60hz but that didnt work.

I have no idea why this would cause a problem but it feels stupid to have resolution and quality seperate along with the hz ♥♥♥♥ it just stupid.

We played with no problems at all for about 2 hours. Going to continue tomorrow. Fixed it for us. Others should try it

I cant really explain how i fixed it - just keep trying different resolutions... i also disabled avg and ran steam as admin.

yes i figured out that its really the resolution, you can also try to play in windowed mode connect to your partner and then fullscreen, that worked for me
i m the one getting black screen when i join, but when my friend joins me, we can play during 5 minutes and i crash...

Worked for me changing my hz to 24 and my friend changing his to 30.

When I keep my game in windowed mode when joining and spawning, it works. If I'm in fullscreen when I hit spawn, it will black screen. It makes no sense but it works now. Other people have said that it works when they do the opposite - join windowed, then change to fullscreen before you spawn. Alt-Enter is the fullscreen/window toggle.

I tried this and it worked but instead of 59hz it was 50.

Can confirm that this works. You can also switch your settings BACK to what you want them to be after you join and spawn in Co Op

This method didn't work for me

Method that works if you have this problem i guess would be to go windowed before spawning because something in the resolution screws up the game. Then once spawned try switching it to what you want.
