restart the story, you keep your level and unlocks. but all missions will reset, you need to progress a few till you can beat some missions on the first try

A tip on him when you do get him back; (I went in butt naked) I grabbed the shotgun and just kept shooting him with that, he died pretty fast.

If you smash the gongs that are around his area it stuns him, then you can use the XY combo on him to do 2-3 bubbles of damage per gong. There are some timing tricks, for instance ringing the gong while he's attacking or doing certain actions doesn't do anything, and there are only 6-7 gongs but that was enough for me to kill him.

Also if you throw pretty much anything at him when he's posing on top of the pillars he will fall off and be stunned so you can do the XY combo.

Between those two things he's pretty easy to beat as long as you are good at dodging his attacks.

heres a good tip.. bring 1 or 2 survivors. equip them both with the split rifle ( assault rifle + lead pipe) they will now pretty much kill everything they see
