How do i activate jack in a box? Which key is it?

I think you wind the handle at the back of the box

I think it hold right click, then hold left click. Or hold triangle then hold x. Not really sure but give it a try.

Once you slam the box on the ground press either X or Y (Left or right click)

I've remapped several keys and all I can do is hit people, throw it or drop it!

for me using jack in the box was (Y) button on gamepad, which equals the Heavy attack key, not sure on keyboard but its heavy attack.

Strange as heavy attack just ♥♥♥♥♥ them around the head with it harder

hold down one of the buttons, i got it to work but i forgot what i did lol

You have to TAP heavy attack NOT hold it down

Ah figured it - reset my controlls and tapping (or double tapping as it works for me) places it
