Crashes every 10 min, Please help :(
Ok so this is the first time ive made a post so im not certian of everything i need to say in regards to what specs i have but this is what i have, if there is anything else i need to say just ask.
Processor: Intel core i7 2.6GHz
8GB of RAM
Windows 10 64 bit operating system
Graphics: NVIDIA GForce GTX 960M

So the problem im having seems to be a common one yet i cant find a solution that works (and as i am not relatively tech savvy there are many things i simply do not understand). The game crashes every 10 minutes, the crash message is simply a generic windows notification saying somthing along the lines of "Dead Rising 3 has stopped working, windows will let you know if we find a solution to the problem". I have searched and tried multiple things, ive updated all of my drivers, messed around with the in-game settings, and attempted to set the game to run as admin. and turned on compatibility mode for windows 8. No significant changes occered from any of this. Can somebody PLEASE help, i can tell that i would really enjoy this game if itd only work.

Just to be sure, please verify your game cache through Steam

Have you tried adjusting the ingame settings?

While comparing your GPU to the minimum the strengths and weakness can be seen:

The crashing could be a result of the lack in memory bandwidth, render output processors, pixel rate & memory bus.

Ok so im in the process of verifying the cache right now, also ive seen a couple of people look through their event viewer for this error, this is the general description given.

Ive also seen that this has somthing to do with directx, though i have it up to date. And on the topic of the processor, it that going to be a major factor? and if so then is it possible to upgrade it on my current lap top?

Also if it means anything, i have DirectX12.

Just tried running it again, this time running steam as admin with compatiblity mode set to windows 8. This was also after i verified the cache. Same result as before.

I've been at this for 2 days. CTD after precisely 15 minutes. Event Viewer calls out XAudio2_7.dll. Drivers, file verification, nothing works so far. If I move the xaudio2_7.dll out of system32 or sysWOW64 folders, the crashing stops, but there's no sound ingame.

Windows 10, Creative XFi Elite, GeForce 760.

How do you do that? Honestly at this point I just want to be able to play the game until an official solution has been created.

Yup, we've seen many such reports with this kind of behaviour.

Search the forums for other posts with suggestions, but we know of know specific fixes thus far.
It is however, a Windows driver/directsound issue, not really a problem with the game itself.

Yeah well, it kind of needs that file to make sound so, that's not unexpected.

Have you updated directx and your drivers?
DeafLeftward Nov 2, 2015 @ 11:04pm
So i removed the audio file and it seems to run fine now however on top of there being no sound (which im completely fine with), cutscenes now freeze as soon as they start, forcing me to skip them.

Ok, I was having the exact problem, total crashes, and I was also having problems with D&D online, so they told me to uninstall, "Happy Cloud", and reinstall the game if it didnt work, well, I did reinstall the game, no probelms I could play for hours, then I thought to myself, what if that also fixed my Dead Rising 3 problem, and guess what, I didnt even have to re-download Dead Rising 3, it works! I played for over an hour until I got board a while ago :)

what is happy cloud?

It's perfectly safe to reinstall DX as much as you want. It simply won't bother files that aren't missing or damaged. This is why lately I've been suggesting manually deleting that file from the system32 folder then re-run the legacy dx9 installer to replace it.
DeafLeftward Nov 4, 2015 @ 8:48am
So just to ensure I understand what your saying, your saying to go to the system 32 folder and delete my current version of DX and then reinstall the DX 9 version? If so would you mind posting a link to a safe download site?

No, just the XAudio2_7.dll file itself, which is a legacy DX9 file
Or just rename or move it temporarily if you don't feel comfortable deleting it.

There's really no good reason to ever download DirectX from anywhere else buy Microsoft directly.

Mind you that this is not likely to be a solution unless the file happens to be damaged or the wrong size or something.

ive already moved that file to my desktop (though i moved that file from both system 32 and sysWOW64) when i did so the game worked but of course there was no sound and cutscenes would not play this was while running DX12. Ill try just moving it from system 32 and downloading DX9 then give an update on the situation late this evening.
DeafLeftward Nov 4, 2015 @ 3:54pm
Attempted the above and there was still no sound and cutscence still crashed. Note that dxdiag still says that i have directx 12, does this mean i installed somthing incorrectly or maybe did not put somthing in the proper file? Does the thing i download need to go into the system 32 folder? And are there other folders such as sysWOW64 and amd64 that i need to worry aobut?
