At some point, an NPC will offer to upgrade your gauntlet--then you can just shoot the magic barrier to dispel it.

Actually, now that I think about it, I believe there is one particular door that gives the message "This door is magically sealed." If you're referring to that door, then I don't remember what I did to open it, but I probably just killed a specific NPC in the area.
You now the checkpoint near there? There's a "locked" door in the other direction and the compass makes a loud noise in a niche area before reaching the door.

1) What is the secret?
2) How do you unlock that door?

Naw, it's the tower before that one (Higher up the path). The checkpoint is close to a 3 way split, 1 direction leads you back to the big Citadel door, one leads leads to a sealed door that this person is probably talking about, the 3rd direction eventually leads to the graveyard boss and at the start of this path is a locked door in a tall building (It only says "Locked" when interacting with it, not barred from other side).

Okay, thanks.

Oh, okay. That door goes to the trenches. You get the key from an NPC towards the end of the game. It's a small area with a few chests and leads back to the courtyard.

Which NPC? I'm about to fight the last boss, and that door was still locked last time I was there.

Guard captain, I think he's called. He's inside the citadel on the stairs leading up to the area where the planetarium is.

But I'm not sure why the door would be magically sealed if it takes a key. I thought that door just said it was locked when you try to open it.
Hey I just got the defeated the worshipper, and I'm still using the first bosses special weapon, are there any better weapons for my warrior that I missed? Or are coming soon? Also is the Vanguard sword just completely useless?

This was my thread check the user who posted, but good to know.

He didn't say it was magically sealed. 2 different doors are being discussed here (Sorry for the confusion).

Oh... okay. Well, now this is starting to make a bit more sense. :)

Weapon upgrades seem to be far and few. I'm currently playing a cleric and I have been using the hammer from the Shard of Heroes for quite a while.

I believe that, on my warrior, I quit using the sword from the first boss once I got a polesword from the Western Antechamber in the Abandoned Temple called Lost Pike. It has 2 rune slots and, from what I've read, if you insert a higher poison rune and a flawless fire rune in them, you will receive an upgraded version of the weapon.
Are you talking about the Pole Arm that if you listen to the diaglouge is some legandary weapon? How do you get a poison and fire rune? Also does anyone have any other suggestions?

So that door that one I was talking about, that is much later?

For your particular door you will gain the ability to unlock it after upgrading your Gauntlet and defeating a boss soon after that.

okay great! So about my second question - I was told about a pole arm, is that the most weapon? And is it the weapon that cannot be used without the runes? How do you get flawless fire/poison runes?
I don't know, I don't usually look things up ahead of time in games like this. I plan as I progress, instead of looking at everything on offer and planning ahead.

Wait, I know the discussion has moved on a bit, but going back to the original message, do locked doors give you a message if you can't open them? My character attempts to open the door, does the stand-back-from-the-door animation, but then nothing happens. So I never know if the door is locked, magically sealed, barred from the other side, or whatever.

That sounds like you toggled the option for displaying the Quest Objective in the top left corner. Toggling this option breaks several on-screen prompts such as interactions with locked doors and a few other things you'll encounter in the game.

To fix this you must literally delete the games configuration file stored in My Documents. Re-enabling the option via the in-game settings or editing the configuration file to re-enable the option does NOT fix the problem.

Once it's fixed, never toggle that in-game setting again, you will have to live with the game frequently spamming the quest objective in the top left corner if you want to see the various on-screen prompts.

As a direct response to your question, yes, doors should display a message if their locked and you interact with them.

@Purge As far as I can tell there is literally only one door in the entire game that displays a message stating that it is Magically Sealed. This door unlocks once you get the upgraded Gauntlet and defeat the first boss you encounter after acquiring said item (You might have to open it from inside the monastery before it will become unlocked for return trips from the outside)

The other doors you unlock with the Gauntlet (The doors that require shooting with the Gauntlet) don't display any message.
