1) What is the secret?
2) How do you unlock that door?
Which NPC? I'm about to fight the last boss, and that door was still locked last time I was there.
He didn't say it was magically sealed. 2 different doors are being discussed here (Sorry for the confusion).
To fix this you must literally delete the games configuration file stored in My Documents. Re-enabling the option via the in-game settings or editing the configuration file to re-enable the option does NOT fix the problem.
Once it's fixed, never toggle that in-game setting again, you will have to live with the game frequently spamming the quest objective in the top left corner if you want to see the various on-screen prompts.
As a direct response to your question, yes, doors should display a message if their locked and you interact with them.
@Purge As far as I can tell there is literally only one door in the entire game that displays a message stating that it is Magically Sealed. This door unlocks once you get the upgraded Gauntlet and defeat the first boss you encounter after acquiring said item (You might have to open it from inside the monastery before it will become unlocked for return trips from the outside)
The other doors you unlock with the Gauntlet (The doors that require shooting with the Gauntlet) don't display any message.
