Have you tried using beacons? Crafting recipe can be found in safe shallows, usually around wrecks or life pod. Very cheap recipe: 1 titan , 1 copper
And you cannot use it handily while in motion, or in 'action'. By design, I think.
Though it is easy enough to use when you can take time to open your PDA.
I actually consider it to be almost a QoL mod.

In old games with build-in mods to give some kind of items, feature, ability or some wacky modification that can give minor to major advantages they're literly called "Cheat-codes". And everyone knew that and didn't pretend they are not
I believe you mean this meaning of "cheats", that confirms my reasoning:
You cannot be dishonest if there's no one to be dishonest to (ie, singleplayer game) and there's no one it would be unfair to in a singleplayer game. (as I've already said)
Cheating in a video game means gaining an advantage beyond normal gameplay. In single-player games, this is often to make the game easier to play.
