How far can you dive?
Free swimming, in the sea moth, and the cyclops (I read this was 200m but also saw people at 6KM?)

The cyclops can only go to 200m unless you enable the no damage cheat, free swimming as far as you can hold your breath and seamoth, until the game crashes i guess :P there are no depth limits currently on that.

reportedly you can go as deep as 60 km and more until the game crashes. probably depends on your system. but there is nothing down there- no bottom.

i tried it once and reached 7000 meters but had no power cell to refuel.

What if you get out of your sub at like a kilometer under the ocean and swim around (I would be way too scared to do this anyways though)

Doesn't do any damage, and you breath otherwise regularly.

I have a base in my game I'm building roughly 2800~km below, the game surprisingly however does seem to have a 'depth' formula for buildings as all my module parts (including windows) take roughly -3.7 off the 'Integrity' total rather than the -1.0 you get above 200m, so I've got to use a lot more reinforced wall points (which thankfully still add +7).

I enabled the no damage cheat and speed cheat and just dropped the Cyclops to about 10k depth off one side of the map. After about 1.5K there stopped being terrain. So I'd say so far the game is probably at the 1-1.5k range in terms of depth.

If by 1.5k you mean 1.5km then not entirely, it does vary, I've seen some people say they hit depth around 6k, where I built my deep-water base at 2800m the actual ground started to bug out (with the hollow spots into the 'void') at around 2950m where I was.

It just depends where you're at it seems.

So I got bored and "drilled" with a Terraformer straight down near the Life Pod.

@ 200m -A void opened up and I found Snake Mushrooms (the glowing purple bioluminecent ones)

@300m -I hit seafloor again

@980m -I encounter a 2nd void that led into I am guessing the InActive Lava Biome

@1270m -I hit seafloor again

@1600m -I found a 2nd InActive Lava Biome

@1900m -I hit seafloor again

@3000m -I ran out of terrain

@30,000m -I encountered a sound, sorta gurgling/bubbling

@100,000m -I got bored...

Realistically, the game only has a playable depth of 200-300 meters. Basically, the lithium chambers with the giant mushrooms is about as deep as you ever need/should go. But as long as you don't need lithium, you will most likely only need anything under 100m or so, and 90% of that will be under 50-80m.

So I checked tonight during my stream how deep I could go before the game crashes. And I was able to get 1,000,000 meters of depth. You can see some stream highlights here:

Interesting, do the fish get crazier past 200m? Or is everything usually able to be encountered before that?

Most species can be encountered in fairly shallow waters. The exceptions are the Shockers (Blood Kelp Zone and Koosh Zone), spinefish and blood biters (Blood Kelp) and the crabsnakes (Jellyshroom Caves).
