Because being alone and stranded was part of the theme. There's only one other entity on the planet you can 'talk'to, as part of the plot. The sequel will allow for someone to hold your hand though, apparently.

I'll still be playing solo.

The game's focus is isolation. You're currently the only one on an entire planet. Only adds to the facts that there were hundred, if not thousands of people on the Aurora.

The sequel looks to be taking place on the same planet. So it'd make more sense to have this game multiplayer, as the in universe people now know much more thanks to Ryley's efforts.

Multiplayer would be hella fun though

Aurora had crew of about 140 people and a handful (9) of passengers. It's documented.
Some people prefer single player. Ok with you?
You do know the game went through development hell which is why the final release is still pretty buggy.
The reason there was no co-op is because it was a bit to much for the development team could handle at the time. (Again final release is buggy with just 1 person.)

The site mentions it's a new world actually

Apparently not. How dare you?
I'm really glad it's a single-player game tbh

I guess that does make sense. I’ve never really thought about it like that. It definitely was more creepy playing alone. Knowing there’s none else out there and everyone else died.

I did not know that either and thank you for informing me. That does makes sense for how long the game has been out and how little has really changed or been fixed over the years. Either way it was an amazing game and I’d definitely play it again.
Isn't it pretty much a given that ANY multiplayer game nowadays requires a server? LONG gone are the days when you and whomever else had the game could just connect and play, and the way servers get shut down, really want to go there?
I find being alone more fun then coop as its just you and your thoughts.
There’s a multiplayer mod for Subnautica called 'Nitrox for Subnautica' if you want to give it another try with your friends. Subnautica 2 will also have multiplayer. :peeperfish:
