Thanks for the answer though !
I hope they'll eventually find a workaround, but I shouldn't hope too hard.
Or maybe there isn't nitrogen on that planet? XD
I just liked the system that you do have to stop. Though it would probably require bigger oxygen bottle to play correctly.
No Narcosis - Dive to a depth of 40m
This is the Devs acknowledging that it was a conscious decision to *not* include compression management in the game, and *rewarding* us for accepting the suspension of disbelief this requires.
Let's just say "You're welcome" and move on...
It was their first achievement made on the game as a test... Heck ! Seabases didn't even exist by then and there were only 3 or 4 biomes.
They came with the idea and implementation way way way later...
+Nitrogen bend is still hidden in the game, you need to enable it with cheats but it's there.
It works weirdly at the moment but it's there... With some tweaks it could have been pretty fun and scary as well IMHO.... It already is scary if you play with one life actually.
Well... That's the point actually :) Just like starvation, 1 life only and so on... It just gets harder.
If you try to activate nitrogen (don't know if you ever played with it), you start beeing way more careful about how you swim and manage your oxygen... I find it pretty cool IMHO.
The first effect of nitrogen appears at 50m.
A decompression chamber could be made so that nitrogen goes down very quickly, just like oxygen replenish? (it's still a game after all and it has to be fun)
But I still want to see complete flooding of a room when entering a base, followed by a draining of water. Would be quick and cool... I already kind of roleplay myself by creating a pseudo chamber in all my bases with a bulkhead after a hatch (can't help it, lol).
Cheat lil to get fast some oxygen bottles and try to swim around starting the red grass plateau and mushroom forest.
If you take too many nitrogen "points" (I don't know how to really call that) you can be killed instantly by going up to the surface too quickly.
Your nitrogen "gauge" will appear next to your depth as soon as you take nitrogen "points"
I don't understand what are the variables exactly, that's why it would need some tweaking as it doesn't always seem to trigger the damage.
Edit: And a proper gauge (like O2, food and water) would also be cool =P
short version, nitrogen bubbles in the blood stream from the pressure at lower depths. Cause nasty damage if you're not careful up to and including death.
Decompression stops are mandatory when diving at the maximum safe limit for any longer than (approx.) 5 minutes. You will need to refer to USN or PADI Decompression Tables during the planning stages of your dive to ensure that all necessary decompression stops will be made for the correct length of time, and at the correct depth during your ascent to the surface.
High-altitude airline travel less than 24 hours after making a deep dive may also be hazardous, even if your ascent followed the appropriate decompression profile for that dive.
It's all about dem pesky Physics.
You really don't want Decompression Sickness and Nitrogen Narcosis (two entirely separate and extremely nasty effects, btw) properly implemented in Subnautica. Trust me on this one.
But while it's a good idea for thrill seekers, I'd much rather they work on adding more things, making current things work. Rather than spending time working out how to impliment Decompression Sickness.
