How to put a small storage cube somewhere?
I couldn't figure out how to put that into my excape ship it doesn't seem to work. :(

Shift + left click doesn't seem to work either. Do i need to build a real base first to use storage containers?

I haven't built one in a while but a few updates ago the mass of the storage cube would tilt the escape pod to one side so I think they removed the ability to build them in there.

Try building one and just setting it on the sea floor underneath the pod.

If you can do that, don't worry it won't move around and the stuff will be safe inside.

If you can't then yes, you have to build a small starter base (which is what I usually do anyway), just a foundation and a room and power. Then you build extra storage and another fabricator, plus the fragment analyzer.

Later if you want you can disassemble everything without losing any materials, and rebuild it someplace farther away from your pod.

It wasn't long before I built my first storage cube then couldn't work out how to use it (because I couldn't place it in the escape pod). In frustration, I left the pod and dropped it and it fell to the sea floor directly below. I went down and tried to use it but just picked it up again and figured I wouldn't be able to use it until I built a base, so I dropped it and ignored it.

Then some time later I was looking at a beginner guide for ideas on getting started and stumbled on an interesting tidbit: to open the storage cube , you click on the top of it (there's a green panel) otherwise you pick it up.

Incidentally, I found out there's a stoage cabinet in the escape pod too. I'd found the openable medicine cabinet looking thing opposite the fabricator (which doesn't do anything but open and close, as far as I'm aware - it's not actual storage) but not the useable storage cabinet peblow the power module. Now I've got both. :)

That's great^^. I think i need something like a starter guide too meanwhile. I've absolutely no idea how to build a base.

I've had storage cubes slowly slide down slopes. I don't use them anymore. Leave them on a flat surface if you are going to drop them on the sea floor. Or get the builder tool first and put a foundation down somewhere. The last time I used a storage cube (which was a while ago) it worked fine outside of a base just on a foundation.

Subnautica has a channel on YouTube with quite a few videos and you can see the bases the devs have built if you want ideas. As far as how to do it, Subnautica Wiki[subnautica.wikia.com] has a Seabases[subnautica.wikia.com] page.

Otherwise I tend to browse YouTube (although a lot of the clips show old interfaces etc).

Ah, good to know. Mine must've settled into a dip in the sand. Maybe dig one out first to be sure if you're desparate for the storage space.

That's exactly what i did. I dig a hole for each cube i've crafted.

A question besides, i just saw that the game has a huge thing which is called "cyclops". Wouldn't it be better to build that instead of a base?. I mean isn't that almost a base?.

Edit: Ok... this is just incredible. I havn't found a single piece of gold, salt or other things in my world. I don't know if it's random created maybe i just had bad luck.

It takes a while to learn where to find stuff. Different materials spawn at different depths and biomes. Salt is easy to find once you know what to look for - I bet you've looked at a dozen already without "seeing" them. It spawns almost everywhere.

Gold spawns deeper, so if you're still early in the game it's not unusual that you haven't found any. You need more oxygen tanks or a Seamoth to find it at depth.

The Cyclops is only moderately useful as a mobile base because there's no way to power it other than with power cells, so it's very labor-intensive keeping it running (compared to a base with solar, thermal, or nuclear power).

Use the wiki when you get stuck, it has all the info you need.

Yes thanks Cougarific, i've already figuret out finally a little bit how to do things in this game and i've build a base also collected everything for the cyclops. But unfortunately, i can't build the cyclops cause this "mobile vehicle bay" is buggy. I can't climp up its impossible :(. I guess i have to wait til the next update for a fix.

Edit: After repairing the game it worked somewhow finally :). But dont ask me why.

That's a known bug with the MVB. Just save, reload, and you can board it again, at least the first time you attempt. The next time might require a reload again.

Put the MVB on your hotbar, select it like you would anything else, and release it that way. If you drop it from inventory, it won't activate, the "climb" command won't show up if you drop it.
