There is a flashlight (sans battery) you can pick up in the aurora in the water under the prawn bay. Saves you two quartz. lol

The light in the prawn bay has no battery, yes, but it won't kill you to devote three minutes to making one

Or, you know, just loading one of the six thousand extras you find in the Aurora.

Those are mostly behind the fire again at that point you rather use the flare its a great additon and is way better than the flashlight. I played the game enough to know the diffrence. Unlimted lightsource > battery eater

There are batteries all over the aurora. In the locker room, the comm room, the bedrooms and many of the crates. You pick them up as you go, not backtrack after you get the light.
Flashlight has an on/off switch and a focused beam, also you can break open nodules with it.
Flare is dangerous. You can burn your eyes out if you look at it too long.

Exploit a game glitch so I don't have to build something that takes almost no effort and can be done on day one?

Lightstick is superior, doesn't need batteries

You need batteries to make power cells anyway. Two mushrooms that are ubiquitous in the shallows and copper that is everywhere. You don't even need to recharge them, just use spent ones for a new tool or power cell.

Have to admit I use dead batteries to make new tools and power cells all the time and I always find it a bit funny that a dead battery goes in and a charged one comes out.

(I do it too - then I look over my shoulder to see if anybody was watching) :steamsad:

Flares attract Crabsquids and you can't turn them off
