Anyone know a way around my gpu not being good enough for minimum?
When I launch Subnautica, it tells me the memory and cpu are good enough for the minimum requirements to play, but not my gpu. I'm on Windows 8 and have a Toshiba Satellite C55t A5123 laptop and the Toshiba support is saying that I can't really upgrade unless I wasn't asking the right question. I would love to actually be able to play this game as I just spent $20 on it and money is kind of a pain so, please help if you have any ideas

The only way around is to upgrade your GPU.

I can't upgrade sadly. I got it to work, it's just super laggy and slow. It didn't crash on me, so that's a plus

Thats the bad thing with a laptop. Upgrading mostly impossible. It´s the reason i have given up using a laptop. It expensive underperforming hardware with little chance for upgrades. For office work it´s ok, but gaming is a problem.

Yeah, I hate to say it, but laptops, even gaming laptops, usually can't hanlde the demands of the heavy load games coming out these days. My less-than -6-months-old, supposedly high end Alienware gaming lappy can't handle thsi game well. Meanwhile my back up desktop- a Cybertron Trooper running Windows 7, with all of $35 put into replace the stock CPU fan with a better AMD fan with heat pipes, runs this game really well on recommended settings with no other adjustments. My expensive custom built rig runs it like a champ in high-experimental settings. The Trooper? You can still find them new in box with Windows 7 for under $600, with a full Win 7 installation disc and NVIDIA 740 GPU stock. And it is very customizable if you want to upgrade it. Check places like BestBuy online, I think that's where I found mine. And replace th estock CPU fan before you do anything else. The stock fan is crap.

Sure, I can't tote my desktops around with me, but toting around an expensive Alienware gaming laptop that can't handle any decent games sucks worse.

that is one of the downside of Laptops, you can't replace Laptop parts ( except RAM and Storage ) but most Laptop's GPU and CPU is soldered on the motherboard :(
and I don't think you can Overclock Laptop CPU and GPU easily :/

your Laptop, Toshiba Satellite C55t A5123 Specification meet the Minimum requirement, I would say, but games like subnautica usually need more powers when something happen in game, make sure your device is at least a bit better than the Minimum Requirements.

I have Lenovo Y50-70, and well... I rarely even hit 50-60fps ;-;

I do not want to be rude, but I think if your laptop specs are these ones[www.newegg.com] I am pretty confident that Subnautica is not the only game that you have some issues to play...

Very sorry, your laptop does not meet our minimum specifications on the Steam Store page :( It's always best to check this before any purchase to avoid disappointment.

As others have said, Laptops are notorious for not being upgradable. Your options would be buy a gaming laptop or desktop, or if you're within the 2 hours playtime allowed you could apply for a Steam refund.

All the best.

Yeah, that's the laptop I have. Subnautica is the only game I have for Steam, I'm not much into games usually. Other games I've played on here have never given me problems. Like I said, I got it to load up, it just lags a little. And as for buying a better computer, I can't afford that. Buying this laptop killed me. I wish I had the money to go and buy something better. I wanted to cry at spending $400 on this, so thinking of buying something more expensive makes me want to shoot my foot. Thank you to everyone who replied. It just sucks that my only option is to spend money I don't have.

Well, although the dv did not say anything about it, this game is in alpha, and might be optimised to run more smoothly when it goes gold. Not that I recommend you hold on to it for that reason. It might also go the other way as they introduce more to the game. But if you were not able to get a refund, let's cross our fingers for the first scenario ;-)

It seems that your laptop satisfies your usual needs.

No one can afford all his wishes...
...everyone has his budget cap, you can accept it or not.
Gaming is not a cheap hobby, trust me, worst if you are fond of Early Access 3d first person immersive games... ...prepare to spend a lot of money... ...Worst, prepare to spend that big sum of money quite often...

It is not your only option, you can always accept that there are some wishes that you can not afford and to learn to live, happily, without having satisfied them.
