Can't craft an MK2 upgrade for seamoth.
As I understand, it is crafted in the modification station. I tried that with all needed materials in my inventory, including MK1. The only thing that showed up was the MK2 for the Cyclops.

Certain upgrades are crafted at different stations. What Mk2 are you trying to craft?

Sorry, forgot to say it was for the Seamoth.

It should be in the modification station. I can't remember if there were any other prerequisites to make it show up there.

Why does this have to be so complicated? I see many players with the same problem. Is this the result of an upgrade? Has the process changed? I watched a video where the player had no problem doing what I tried to do.

Seamoth depth module MK2 and MK3 are unlocked when you get the Vehicle Upgrade Console. The vehicle upgrade console gets installed in the moonpool and is for specific vehicle upgrades for the seamoth and prawn. You can find the blueprint for the vehicle upgrade console near a wreck just north of lifepod 19. It should be in a data box outside the wreck.

So find the vehicle upgrade console and then the MK2 & MK3 seamoth blueprints will show up in the modification station.

I found that data box quite a while ago and didn't have a moon pool yet. I was able to install MK1 on the side of the seamoth. I don't have the vehicle upgrade console. Why is the upgrade for the cyclops showing up? I was advised I only needed it for MK1. I guess my only option is to go find another one and see if that works.

To be clear:

* Vehicle Modification Station builds Mk 1 upgrades for Seamoth and Prawn. You build that on the sidewall of a Moonpool.
* Cyclops has its own fabricator for its upgrades.
* The regular Modification Station crafts the Mk 2/Mk 3 upgrades for Seamoth/Prawn/Cyclops. That you build anywhere in your seabase.

If you have the Mk 1 Seamoth Depth Module, you upgrade it in the seabase Modification Station.

the only caveat being that the seamoth mk1 upgrade can alto be found/looted as treasure, bypassing the unlocks you get form the moonpool/vehicle upgrade station.

which is probably how OP ended up in this situation.

Yes! I'm sure you are correct. That is the answer I came up with last night. I got my MK1 upgrade in the Aurora and found out that I could install it on the side of the Seamoth, but doing so bypassed the unlocking of MK2 and MK3. I am in a more difficult situation since I have to find the vehicle upgrade console blueprints which isn't going to be easy. I have an idea where I might find one and am heading that way.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

Just to clarify, the only thing needed to upgrade the Seamoth depth module to MK2 and MK3 is the vehicle upgrade console blueprint. This unlocks those recipes in the modification station. You don't need the blueprint for the moonpool, and you don't actually need to construct the vehicle upgrade console if you got the free depth upgrade on the Aurora.

There are 4 locations you can find the vehicle upgrade console blueprints, all of which are in data boxes near or inside wrecks. I'll keep it at that unless you're looking for a more detailed hint.

This is a typical progress gate. (At least that's what I'm going to call it.) Item Z is so powerful that it would break the game if players were able to get it at the start. So you need item Y to get Z, find item X at location W to get Y, put item U into slot V to get W, etc. until you get to A which is the start of the game. Of course the player only experiences this from A to Z, and ultimate goal Z may not even be known. I'm pretty sure that if you don't like this kind of thing you should just stop playing video games.

No luck with two locations so far. One was way north above lifepod 6. I never found the wreck but there was a huge underwater building and I ran up on a beach near there and had to get my seamoth back into the water. The one to the southwest I found but it had already been looted and the data box opened. Do you have one that is more likely to pan out?

As I recall, it's either the wreck in the mushroom forest or the one on the floating underwater islands.

I finally found the vehicle upgrade console blue prints in the mushroom forest and MK2 and MK3 showed up in the modification station.
