I'm having a base power crisis.
I have a base made up of 3 multipurpose rooms, 3 hallways, 1 observatory, 1 fabricator, 1 communications relay, 2 first aid kit fabricators. They ran perfectly on the 2 solar panels I had. Now I have a water filtration machine, which zapps most of the power. So I found the bioreactor fragments, built that, and now I have x/200 instead of x/100 but it still doesn't get me to 200/200 ever.

Am I missing something? I don't think I have that many things zapping THAT much power in my base, that the bioreactor can't keep up.

never build the bioreactor alone. it recharges the overall power so slowly... it is just a good and reliable support.

What can I use as a long term source of power? Do multiple solar panels work? Can I just use a bunch?

Probably just solar panels. As long as you're not doing anything insane like trying to fabricate thousands of items overnight, a few solar panels should both generate enough power during the day and store enough power during the night.

(On an unrelated note: don't you do PR stuff for CHKN? I swear I've seen you before on the forums there. I don't own or play the game, but I went to check out the forums after seeing it covered by a few popular YouTubers)

Multiple Solar Panels and the Nuclear Reactor are recommended.
Well, all kind of Energy producing Things together even more.
Thermal Reactors outside can also bring extreme Power...

there are Power Transmitter Crystals for Outdoor Use ingame, so you can guide your Power into the Depths (Solar f.e.) or from a very hot Place to your Base (Thermal Reactor f.e.)

Every powerproducing or power-transmitting Unit in there is a Fragment.

Here is everything you need: http://subnautica.wikia.com/wiki/Energy

Solar Panel frags should be around the Starter Area including the Kelp Forest.
Nuclear Reactor can be found far behind the Aurora, in the home of the Laser-Squid-King of EMP Madness, the Deep grand Reef. (The floating blue Balls Biome)
The Thermal Plant should be anywhere around the Red Grass or in Front of the Aurora, where the Leviathan dwells.

Enjoy. Gotta catch them all!

HAAAAA yes, I'm their community manager and associate producer. That's too funny. Thanks for your help as well.

Thanks a lot! This is awesome. I think I knew where the reactors were....but I'm ascared of the monsters. haha.

the water filtration machine sucks a lot of power while it's running. once it has 2 salt and 2 water in it, it stops taking power, so my advice is to leave 2 salt and 1 water in there and just one water out at a time.

if you can find a thermal vent and build reasonably cose to that, unlock Thermal generators and you can route power to your base via pylons, haven't had a power outage since, despite craft and keep the water filtration machine going nonstop.

I use Solar in addition to the thermal of course, and that bio reactor will take pretty much anything organic, plants, dead fish, live fish, eggs, and if you hatch egss in your aquarium, nothing like the satisfaction of watching a hostile predaor give you power instead of greif. Course, a released sandshark will show its gratitude by clearing out biters if released in their midst..

To run a filtration machine, it can take at least 3 bioreactors. So you may as well set aside some space for a triple-stack of them. On the plus side, you get a 100 power resevoir each, and they're cheaper than solar panel arrays when it comes to quartz.

They are easily fueled with either a breeding pen for hatched eggs or hopping over to the floating island and nabbing some produce. Once you have produce growing on your station, your food and water needs essentially go away, so you only need aquariums and a filtration machine for portable supplies (fruits don't travel well)

Accumulators will make the situation a LOT better, since it's fairly easy for power generating buildings to 'cap out' and waste a lot of time and power doing nothing.
