Now that you mention it - I have not confirmed that Acid Mushrooms respawn naturally post-update. They did at one point in the development process.
Apologies if I'm mistaken about that.
I agree with some of the above, in that I've avoided it by just picking wild ones. However, I now need to farm Deep Shrooms to avoid lengthy trips, and they have the same issue...
Anyone have a solution?
The best way for farming I've found is to grow them, pick them all up, go away from anything important and just drop them. Once they're floating in the world you can slice them with your knife and get the seeds. You wanna only drop them one at a time though. There's also an armored diving suit in the game now. I'm not sure if that helps protect you from the mushrooms or not. Either way, it's not that hard to do. You just wanna have some med kits ready. :)
If you can't harvest a somewhat dangerious plant without getting hurt, then maybe they arn't really that high tech.
This may seem petty, but it is a simple plant that isn't evolving to stop you harvesting it, if what he has learnt for whatever job he does can't help then his job on the ship most certinly not a engineer...
I use them as accent lighting,
You're not able to plant them above water level though are you?
No. You are not able to plant them above water level. Simply handled. Another foundation, nearby, just below water level, with the grow-box.
Not too near the chop area, though. It's still an AoE damage effect, and if you are too near the grow box when you chop them, it will kill your other mushrooms.
I had a foundation destroyed by acid shroom harvesting. It just takes a while. Best to cut them out in the open near nothing else at all.
You did a lot more cutting than I did. I stopped after about 100-150. I've never seen anything completely destroy. Only become structurally unstable, and prone to flooding. Foundation above the water can't flood.
Well, you're not wrong. The immediate dangers are fratricide of other 'shrooms or plants, destruction of your planter, and leaky nearby base modules, for sure. I just wanted to point out that the Foundations themselves do take the damage, though I guess they do have a crapton of HP relative to everything else.
