Hardcore mode death
I understand that they're going to be adding more to deaths (maybe an animation), but it would be nice if in the next update it took you back to the main menu, instead of rage-quitting you to the desktop. My thoughts after being eaten by a stalker... ;)

Added later:
You know, when I started this topic, I didn't think it would be controversial. I expected it to just be "Yeah, it should go back to the main menu after you die, not take you to the desktop". People here have played computer games before, right?

You must not be playing hardcore ;p

My next game is going to be survival - I want to actually survive more than a few days lol.

Seriously though, it shouldn't exit you to desktop after you die. It also screws up any recordings you make of the game if you don't stop recording before pressing OK on the "You have died" message.

So, I'm now wondering, seeing as no-one really commented on this - am I the only person who has played on hardcore? :P

No, probably just the only one who's complaining about it.

Sounds not Hardcore enough! It should quit to desktop, send some nasty E-Mails to your Mum and Girlfriend and lock down Windows forever behind a new Password.

Hardcore should feel like Hardcore. Make Subnautica strong again!

If they add an animation how about something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4k2CetsNsc

That can't be the case, because that would mean I'm the only one on the forums with a brain. It's a glaring error, I've never come across it in any other game ever, and it could be very easily corrected.

Don't assume anything is easy, especially when it comes to game development. The devs said that they were trying to figure out how to make a "quit to main menu" button, but it required a lot of work. I don't know how much difference there is between a button and an instant quit, but I'd imagine it's more difficult. If you did have a brain, you'd know that nothing is as it seems, espacially for an Early Access game.

I don't accept that there can be major updates from month to month (well, sometimes every other month), but telling the game to go back to the main menu instead of quitting is something they are stuck on. I don't think you would accept this normally as an explanation either.

I love this game, but I'm not going to look at it through rose-tinted spectacles either.

Good luck working on your game then, since you seem to know everything.

You're not an objective person.

Quit to Menu? For what?

In every Triple A Title i got 4 Logo-Intros... Publisher, Developer, Game Engine and then the Title Intro.

Subnautica is no Game with any Intro. They even managed to get the Graphic and Keybinding Menu inside the Game Menu with the LAST Patch. But Stucol cant wait!

"Where are they going with the Game? Why is it harder now? Why cant i do this? Why cant i do that? Why? Why? Why?"

I don't appreciate being mocked - seriously, ♥♥♥♥ you.

Just try to imagine the Development Process, Stucol. All the Steps which got to be taken to release this Piece of Software. All this Age Rating, Platform-related and License-related Crap.

So much Paper, Data. So much People needed not only for Coding. Quitting to Menu will be Part of the Game.

AND BESIDES THIS, Mister I-will-hold-my-Breath-for-120-Minutes Hu-Man-Lungz, there is NO Flaw when we get an appropriate Death Animation and THEN return to Desktop. Nothing is missing here. I got a few unfinished and abandoned Games, where i cant go back to the Menu. No Loss there.... and they said there will be a Death Animation... so why are we even talking here?
