Look for sandstone ore nodules. You can find them in the grassy plateaus (red grass) and in the kelp forests.

thanks, do i need anything special to mine them or is it a case of hitting until asilver ore comes?

Just mine them and youll get silver pretty often.

As far as I can tell Sandstone is far, FAR less common in the Red Grass biome than it was pre-update. People are now finding it in thermal vents in the Safe Shallows and at the bottom of the new island near the nose of the Aurora.

I looked around the Red Grass biome for at least an hour last night and found only Limestone.

Yeah, I'm finding none. Not even in the Thermal vents. On the plus side, the Sand Shark infestation seems to have diminished among the red grass.

Blight I found Sandstone at the base of the new island. Much of it had Gold inside but there were 2 or 3 Silvers too.

Its definitely not as easy to find as before. I'm around 2-3 hours into this restart and I'm only sitting on about a dozen silver so far.
I've found some sandstone nodes on the cliff walls between the kelp forest and red grass biomes and a couple of times in the deeper parts of the kelp forest as well. None from the red grass area at all yet
My best luck though has been in caves starting at around 25 meters and going down from there. Just bring a flashlight with you to check out all the nooks and crannies

Grassy plateaus and kelp forest. I'm not finding more or less than before.

Kelp forest is your best bet.
