Read some of the Guides here. Google the Subnautica Wiki and bookmark it for future reference, use the "Search" feature on the discussions forum if you have a specific question (most early play questions have been asked and answered dozens of times in the threads already...), be prepared to die alot at first while you learn the game, repair the wall panel on the LifePod as soon as you can (make a welder at the fabricator... and enjoy the exploding Crash fish in the Shallows caves when trying to get the crash powder they leave in their home plants...), expect your LifePod to drift ibefore you repair it or get scrap metal to make titanium and make 4 pipes and lay one on each side of the Pod to hold it in place until you get it repaired, don;t fear The Reaper (but don;t go try to pet it and hug it either...)...

LOL! And have fun playing and learning the game. :D

Airsacks are used for small water bottles. Number one tip, right there.

Some people might argue that it takes away from the game experience so you might not decide to do this however I find that having a map of the Subnautica world (you can find on the wiki) is one of the most helpful tools for playing. Both for deciding where I want to build bases and for finding fragments to scan. I think it's particularly helpful because you can easily avoid biomes which have Reaper Leviathans if you're not ready for them.

A generally good idea is to stay away from the Aura for a while, even more so the back of it. X_X

They meant Aurora. And there be dragons there...

It is. At first. Wait til you hear it scream at you. As it's grabbing your Seamoth to destroy it and eat you. I've grown to love the Terror Beast Of The Sea. :D

Make a radiation suit ASAP.

Make a Welder ASAP, so you can repair your lifepod. The main benefit of this is it activates the gravity anchor, which (should) prevent it from floating away into the distance. EA game, so things can go wrong sometimes regardless.

Make a builder device as soon as convenient (silver has a chance to drop from sandstone, in the kelp forests for closest access).

Not to rush making a "full base", but to build a quick small room, or even corridor tube (plus solar panel to keep the air running), to put storage lockers inside.

My biggest newbie regret. Working out of a collection of waterproof lockers once my lifepod inventory filled up. Even just a single tiny corridor tube with a couple storage lockers made my life so much bettter (And made preping to build a real base elsewhere that much easier).

As a little aside. Airsacks eaten raw can give you 14 seconds of air. Impractical to keep them on hand just for that, but if you already have some in your inventory it might be the difference to making it to a proper air source.

A common newbie confusion, because everyone keeps using mixed terms. Whenever anyone talks about raising fish, they mean the ALIEN CONTAINMENT, even if they use the word aquarium.

The actual item named aquarium, is just for decorative purposes. Fish won't reproduce inside it. But they will in an Alien containment (you also gotta attack a hatch to it).

Don't be afraid when it comes to exploring. Just be sure to bring food and water with you. (Food rots so try to "cure" it with salt.)

Silver can also be found in the Safe Shallows. If you find the thermal (volcano) vents in the Shallows, check the little pocket caves around the sides. And break every node you find in any of them. I get early game silver there before I start looking for more in the kelp forests. I actually tend to have more trouble finding nodes with lead in the first few game days than I do silver and copper.

first, take few wreck parts and some quartz, to make few more air (i make 1 on me and 3 in inventory, need less when you have the seamoth...)
second, go look for 6 vine seed, make you fins and knife
third make you a scanner as soon as possible
the air bladder is nice at start but take care it use a little of your air
you can dodge some attack with swimming only on the sides when he charge then go back of them
the fish who explode charge 1 or 2 max, dodge the first and take space
near aurora there are box with signal with all the interesting place
build two medic fabricator, need 2 to give 100% of life
the emp (defender perimeter) on the seamoth eat a lot, if you use it, take a power cell or two in your inventory... or some time you will swim a lot...
take all time one beacon or two when you go, it s could be very useful, come back on a place if you don t know the map could be hard...
Don t forget to put a beacon near your home too, the beacon of the life pod can t be see from far away

Lead woes is more RNjesus messing with you, considering Lead is even avaible in limestone AND Sandstone.

Meanwhile, whenever I'm looking for silver, the game loves to give me lead instead when I break sandstone...
