How to scan leviathan?

Somebody tried to scan leviathan? Can it be scanned?

Stasis rifle.

Lol! It can, and I first tried it without a stasis rifle. And died a dozen times before I got the scan. And it seemed I had to start the scan at it's face, head on, it would not scan from beside or behind.

Using the stasis rifle to freeze it while you scan is much better. xD

ive heard mention of using the gas torpedos calms it down. dont know how effective that is though

I've heard using the Gas torpedos drives it off and makes it come back really pissed off at you.

The Vortex torpedoes on the other hand seem to be like a shiatzu massage to it. But I still don't know if I want to try to scan it that way. I luv my Reapers, but I don't tend to try to push my luck with them much anymore. I never want to kill them, but they seem to not respect me for that. :D

Swim right at it and try not to get chewed on the way in.

Can't speak for chemical warfare torpedoes, but unless the Devs have changed a good thing, my reapers like Vortex torpedoes, 1 or 2 of these and they'll happily let you scan, just don't swim at their face or actually touch them, they DON'T like that.

ok, after a quick experiment, it would appear stasis rifle is good bet. You scooter in close with seamoth, it grabs you, you electro that bastard, disembark, whip out the rifle, and wait for it to come round, and shoot it quick in the face, then charge up full blast to make sure it stays still.

You can let it grab your seamoth, jump out then you have quite a few seconds to scan him/her/it/GOD.
