I've avoided going there in this game to see how that would play out, I even avoided using the seamoth depth upgrade on the Aurora or using a multipurpose room and I got to a Cyclops and such okay.
"OFFICER KEEN: This is Second Officer Keen, broadcasting to all surviving Aurora crew! Captain Hollister is gone. I have assumed command. Scans say there's dry land 750m south of the crash site. Your orders are to stay together, ensure your immediate safety, and then regroup at the rendezvous point. Good luck. This message will now repeat. WARNING: Rendezvous co-ordinates corrupted. Downloading transmission origin co-ordinates".
Specially indicate the direction of 750 meters south of the crash site. You are not able to swim 750 meters? You get lost in the fog?
