PRAWN no longer heat resistant? - What to use for active lava zone?
Just visited the inactive lava zone again und saw the sea dragon for the first time. It sounds very impressive.
Also first contact with Crimson Rays.
There was also a lot of teleportation going on but I couldnt close in on those creatures fast enough to get a closer look. So they remain mysterious, which is neat.
I wanted to go deeper into the active lava zone then just to find out, that my PRAWN gets damaged to Zero in no time there.

So how can I now get into the active lava zone?
Is there a heat shield for the PRAWN or some other way to survive down there ?

The PRAWN suit should be heat-resistant by default, so it sounds like you are experiencing a bug.

Have you attempted a different save? Open into a Freedom world, cheat yourself the exosuit and try visit the active lava biome.

Is the damage overlay "heat-related"? It should look like you are being burnt (fire overlay), not being attacked (bloody overlay).

try to have the reinforced suit

I m playing VR, so I have no overlay.
Health starts decreasing fast when close to lava down in the ALZ.

But I will try it with a different save.
Maybe something is messed up.

Prawn suit is heat resistant, but it still takes heavy damage when in contact with the super heated exposed lava surfaces.

Yep. Aside from holding together all sorts of heat-related machinery for the PRAWN Suit, I'd like to guess that's what kyanite (the blue crystals in the ILZ) is for.

Thx, I give it a go.
But I remember, that the first time down in the ALZ I deliberately walked through the liquid lava without taking any damage. So at least that changed and I cant take a fresh shower under the lava falls anymore.
Good to know and ok for me since it adds more realism (in a futuristic sense).

Blueprints for a teleporting shield come into my mind ;-)

Just tried it and it works.
But u really need to stay away from the lava.
Sometimes it sucked up some 30% of my health in no time and it didnt even seem close to the lava.
So the welder was used a lot.

But I found the WIP cube down there and even tried a no return mission in one of those 1900m holes.
Cant wait to see, what will emerge there.

wondering if the lava zones are actually active in the stable build yet. i thought the notes for the most recent update said something about them, along with their unique fauna, but so far i have not found anything... i know you can find some lava stuff deep down in the grand reef, but ive heard about the "castle" and what not and am wonding how you find the "main chaimber." are there other ways down to the lava zone yet in stable? are there any of the precursor cases in stabe yet? dont want to bother with all the pressure conpensators to go that deep if its not actually there yet...

and what about this "lost river?" is this is stable yet?

Well, I doubt the lava biomes are in yet, but if in doubt, start a new save (creative) and cheat yourself an exosuit and a pressure compensator MK3 (get the compensator from the modification station) and have a look. The precursor bases, however, they are not in-game JUST yet. Lost River, you will have to have a look too.

I am still having this issue now in the experimental branch, if I sit in a fully upgraded prawn on the lava floor, I go to 4% health in about 1 min ish

It's supposed to be that way. You take damage from touching the hot surfaces in the lava zone.

In fact, a minute is a lot more time than I would expect it to take, especially if by 'lava floor' you mean the bottom of the pools of lava, as opposed to their shore.

well not submerged in lava but just light lava and I would go to shore but nothing can get into the lava zone that far. cyclops is too big, seamoth cant go that deep and prawn can't stand the heat.....so not seeing much use of a biome no one can go into.

I've taken the cyclops down in there. It fit well enough. I def knocked into the wall a couple times but you can get in there with it.

Then you just gotta watch out for the sea dragon knocking you around. Either ride cyclops right over to the precursor building in there or hop out in the prawn and swing over with the hook arm.

Main point: the prawn can withstand super heated water but not actual contact with any lava.

I hope they make a module for the prawn so it can withstand some of the heat, not asking for it to be invincible but enought that if your bombing around and you slip in, it wont kill you.
