Prawn Suit Repulsion Cannon vs Torpedo Arm
I think shooting something at a fish would be better than throwing a rock at it. Would the Torpedo Arm be better for the Prawn than the Repulsion Cannon? I've read that vortex torpedoes are the best ones, so that is what I'll use in case it is the better option.

In all honesty, I find both to suck.
They serve very limited functions and offer nothing outside of (trying to) ward off predators.

A grapple hook and a drill arm are really all you need.
The drill does plenty damage to shake off any creature that tries to get too close and it also enables you to drill large resource nodes.

The grapple hook is mandatory given how clunky and hard to manoeuvre the prawn suit can be.

Drill + Grapple Hook
The only arms you'll ever need.

Vortex are good for getting rid of the smaller things that want to damage you, but don't do any damage themselves. They just fling anything that gets near away, it's fun to watch.

The other option can be done without having to get out of your prawn, but at the cost of not being able to do it while in the prawn. That said.
It it much easier to hit anything with it because you can swim with it. The closer they are the further they go when shot.
It also only needs a new battery every so often while torpedos have to be made and are one use only.

The best item for defence in this game however is the "make everything shot at with it your little bi*ch" gun (or the "stasis rilfe" as some odd people keep calling it. No idea why....).
Anything shot at with it can't move or attack you. And unlike the other two options it also works the same on leviathans (just remember to aim for the head with them).

I meant the Repulsion Cannon Arm btw.

The prawn doesn't have a repulsion cannon arm. Propulsion cannon arm only. And last I tried you can't load in things from the prawns storage to it sucks for defence.

It is useful for base decoration though. Can't fault it there.

The vortex torpedo is fun but expensive and I'm too slow to aim it to make the propulsion cannon effective, but when I do manage to hit a warper with a quartz chunk it does good damage.

The hot knife and the repulsion cannon are my favorites but the standard arm on the prawn does the most damage.

I get those two terms mixed up all the time. Sorry.

Well, here's an easy way to remember.
The propulsion cannon is used to shoot stuff away from you while the repulsion cannon is used to shoot stuff away from you.

Easy.

It can be loaded just like the normal cannon, it just uses the Suit's storage instead of your inventory.

i would say firing live high explosive homing missles is better than firing crowd control unquided torpedos

i'm in the drill/grapple combo camp also. the grapple enables your prawn to be the fastest vehicle in the game once you get the hang of it and the drill lets you gather resources. and thankfully you don't have to get out and picks stuff up manually anymore
