If you eat hoverfish you are a monster
I created a three-story alien containment tank for fish breeding, threw in mating pairs of all the fish I found interesting without regard to their calories. When I was harvesting them, however, the hoverfish started following me around and smiled at me. I immediately felt like a monster for thinking about eating the little guys. I put the new ones in an aquarium and any new ones are going outside instead of the bio-reactor. Some fish are friends, not food.

p.s. The hoverfish is cuter than the cuddlefish.

"Monster" is relative.

Some players use cuddlefish to power their bioreactors. :steamsad:

Hoverfish are fuel.
And cuddlefish eggs are dumped in the void.

I agree, the hoverfish is cuter over all then the cuddlefish. And the cuddlefish was already pretty dam cute to begin with.

But at least the cuddlefish has eyes, while the hoverfish just has black pits. Pits that stretch ever on, past the event horizon and into the void itself....
The more you stare....the more you hear it....the voice of the hoverfish itself....
Yes....yes it is not we that are the monsters hoverfish....
Yes....yes....we will kill them all....

@Amanoob,

I hate to tell you buddy, ...
... but that is NOT a hoverfish you are staring at, or a cuddlefish.

You need to get out of the Kelp Forest. NOW.

Oh please, I can tell the difference between a hoverfish in the hand....with those eyes....and a mesmer.
I don't see darkness when I see a mesmer, I see pretty colours. They circle around my vision with the mesmer fish in the center of them. Like some sort of target board, which is good because it helps me aim for their face.

Now if you'll excuse me I need to get back to breading fish with the fun extra glowy bits on them to load up the lockers of the rocket with.
Yes, Mr hoverfish....soon....soon....we will be ready to launch.

You know you can play the entire game from start to finish without eating any fish. I've done it on several play throughs and so have others, it adds a bit of a challenge at first, but easily done.

Yes, it is relativery easy and I always play that way. I love peepers, hoverfish and garryfish... They can't be food :steamhappy:

Yes. this is all true. Hoverfish are friend, not food.

If it breeds, I feeds! That being said, my habitat is 95% filled with peepers and reginalds because they provide the most food, I always release the cuddlefish, and everything else goes into the bioreactor (especially crashfish and bone sharks!)

But they're tasty... A little batter, deep fried with malted vinegar...

Oculi are a much better choice for your BioReactor. The Best, actually.

That charts with what some others are saying, and it makes sense in terms of space used/yield ratio, cheers! (admittedly putting ampeels, crashfish etc. in there was mostly out of spite, and it would not take much effort to breed occuli, my base in the shallows is almost within spitting distance of the jellyshroom cave back entrance, where the Degassi base was)
Much appreciated!

Oculi are super pretty! Leave them alone you horrible monster!

You would prefer I use Reggies, Peepers, Garryfish, or Hoverfish, QP?

(Actually, don't sweat it, Lady Buddy. I use Nuc's when I need a fueled power source. Come to think of it, I should replace the old backup BioReactor in my main base with a modern, super efficient Nuclear model.)
