Major performance issues
I have two pcs, one is an older workstation and the other is a rtx 2070 with a i7 11k and a ssd. Somehow my older workstation manages to run the game better and with less workload than my better pc.

My better pc don't really get fps drops but my fans and temp for my gpu goes crazy. I've checked game settings aswell as Nvidia game experience and nothing is really off.
I run the game on High graphics but even on just medium same happens.

I can run other more demanding games without any issue, Mafia definitive edition, ghost recon and a more similar workload game like minecraft runs smooth, with shaders.

Anyone have any ideas?

What are the specs of the older workstation, especially including the graphics specs and graphics memory.

Also, how much graphics memory on your rtx 2070 card?

Also curious as to any solutions, see if anything suggested will help with my issue.

I use the Performance Booster mod which allows you to set CPU affinity. I set it to two with no noticeable performance drop, but the CPU and GPU load drops to about 50%. Otherwise they're at 90%+ all the time.

Two things I don't get, how a higher performing card is working worse for the OP and why Subnautica and another older game Echo (hasn't changed since I bought it and USED to work flawlessly) yet newer games don't cause my PC to shutdown.

My old workstation PC has a GTX 960, slightly overclocked, my newer PC has a regular NVIDIA rtx 2070 so its 8GB VRAM and 5GB Memory according to Speccy

I'm not super techy so I might not exactly understand but yeah it's a regular rtx 2070

In attempting to figure mine out, I cleaned out my current drivers and reinstalled them and noticed Vulkan also got installed, can you or anyone else confirm/deny issues with this installed?

try looking at the task manager, maybe there's too much things running in the background?

You could try the experimental beta, it might fix your performance issues. I did the same a couple days ago because I had microstutter even though I had stable 60 fps.

Switching to the experimental beta totally fixed that and it´s now super smooth.

Already checked task manager, all is fine, it only effects this single game. I have a couple of more heavy runned games, I can play them at 4k quality 60 fps and my GPU doesn't overheat as badly

Tried to, also tried modded and unmodded, is the same.
I am gonna download the performance manager mod and find out if it's something specific causing it

It sounds like your system is overheating. How many fans in your system? You need to get that hot as hell air out of your case as quick as possible.

What is your power supply? It might be under powered and causing stress on your system and making it overheat.

Does it randomly crash on you every now and then?

Did you build your PC yourself? Or is it store bought like a Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc.?

5GB RAM?
That's an odd memory size and also pretty low for current games.
Make sure you've got at least 8GB RAM, better go for 16GB.

Also: It looks like you've got different RAM bar memory sizes installed (maybe 1GB + 4GB?)
That way your system can't use dual channel mode, which cost's your system a lot of performance.

So if that's the case, get yourself some additionai RAM and make sure all RAM bars share the same specs.

For example insert 2x2Ggb, 2x 4gb or 2x 8GB RAM. Also don't mix a let's say 2666 Mhz with a 3200Mhz RAM

Use Vsync or other FPS cap.

Sorry I didn't understand you meant RAM, I thought you were talking about VRAM or Graphics memory, My VRAM is 8 GB like a regular 2070 and my graphics memory is 5GB but my RAM is 16 GB.

From what I think, it might be a stressed component like the powersupply. Cause even at low gpu usage fans go vroom. Little odd tho it effects this game more than other games but I guess that rending high quality 3D water is more heavy work than newer games, plus newer games might be more optimized.

RAM = regular memory of your system. VRAM = video ram = graphics memory (the ram on your graphics card)
