Transfer Epic to Steam?
As I hope you know, Epic Games released subnautica for free, I want it to appear on my steam library too, but it appears the free sale didn't hit steam, at least not yet. Anyone know how to make the transfer?

4. Click on "Add Selected Programs".

They are completely separated stores. if you want to have Subnautica on your library you have to buy it from Steam. There are no trades.
I thought that was pretty obvious. Just use common sence.

I don't understand the confusion (not just you FTW, there have been a bunch of posts like this).

These are two *competing* services.

You're basically walking into a McDonald's and asking for a Burger King Whopper with cheese. Burger King will *never* sell McDonald's hamburgers, or Wendy's, or Arby's and vice versa.

They're *in competition* with each other.

Amazing that in this information golden age, nobody actually knows anything.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Only on GOG can you do this, because it's such an awesome DRM-free service.

OP asked to "transfer" the game "from Epic to Steam". He did not ask how to link it so he could launch it through Steam.

But I'm glad someone answered the question he didn't ask!

It's also short-sighted. This is a new site competing with Steam for your business. Try it out, tell them what you like and don't like, help them improve their service.

Steam has zero incentive to improve the Steam experience if it has no competition.

Yeah I love the slow glitchy bugs we've been having since 2011.

Has this been tested to verify that it will accept an Epic game key?

It's not possible... but it should work that way.
Doesn't matter which store you bought your stuff - it's yours. The shop can even stop working, but the things you bought you can still use. Can move them to other place, or even sell to someone else. Law is lagging behind reality, consumer rights are not yet respected - but someday we will be able to move or sell the bought games, independent of steam or epic.

People do not understand platforms, copyrights, and legal paper work behind it all.

I Chose that as the answer because of the repeated sayings that you can't "transfer" the game. I don't know how to solve a thread easily so I just set that as final as it matched my question close enough.
You can if you have either the key code or the game itself ask if you want to launch it through steam. I have codemaster's GRID 2 retail, Unreal Tournament 3 retail, and a few others that allowed me to add them to my steam library as if i had bought them through steam (not as non steam games). But from what I can tell so far SubNautica, isn't being allowed to be used that way. Not saying it can't be. Just saying so far as I can tell, it can not be. Maybe contact Epic, and explain to them what you intend to do, and maybe they can help you with locating the game's key code. One that can be recognized by steam.

Yeah I actually get why someone would want to add a non steam game since you might want to use a steamtroller and it works kind of like crud if its not on steam.

Why would a competitor transfer there game to steam? It’s like asking for a Big Mac in KFC
