Weird Box found with the scanner room
So, I was going down into the Inactive Lava Zone, from the Giant Cove Tree. I set up my scanner room outpost like I always do, just past the border of the two biomes, and found this weird enormous box that appears to be outside the map. I can't figure out what it is but its driving me crazy!

I thought so at first too, but the Thermal plant is supposed to be near dead center of the map isn't it? This wasn't too far from craters edge

probably a cave that the devs decided not to work on or someone messing up with a terrain sculpting tool, this is just a empty space

Probably a graphical artifact that didn't clear.

I looked into it and you can actually see a tiny bit of it in the lava zone corridor.

I warped inside, and it's just emptiness. Weirdly though, the water is green, and Kelp Forest music starts playing too, so apparently it's technically a kelp forest..

Apparently, it uses the biomes from the seabed at the top of the map. Most of it was Dunes, some of it was Mushroom Forest, and then there was the small piece of Kelp Forest.

My guess is it's something left over from development.

Agreed. More than likely.

huh? i have a theory

a long time ago in development there was a corridor that connected the dunes to the lava zone maybe thats a left-over from that?

In one old indy game the devs had to build a small room in every map to "anchor" some of the assets in the map. Perhaps that is what this is.
