What is the best Lost River entrance?
I could use some advice.
I'm trying to find the biggest entrance into the Lost River. To use with the Cyclops.
So far I've found 2 entrances to the Lost River. Both are in the Bloodkelp zones.
One of the entrances (Bloodkelp trench) is so dark that It's like driving with my eyes closed. Very hard to navigate.
The other entrance (northern bloodkelp zone) is so narrow that it's almost impossible not to bump into stuff.

So I know there are quite a few ways into the Lost River and I want to know which one is the easiest to navigate.
I do not care about the presence of hostile creatures only how easy the navigation is

Which way to go depends on the vehicle, to me. The seamoth doesn't care as it can go anywhere just fine. The entrance by lifepod 2 goes through an area with lots of trees and branches that is also very rich in certain materials.
The prawn can also go that way but the route in the bulb tree zone is my preferred route.
The cyclops does best in the bulb tree route due to it's size. When driven properly it rarely gets attacked by the ghost down there and is never in serious danger.

I would never use an entrance in the bulb zone, that place is too creepy.

Never thought I'd see the words "creepy" and "bulb zone" used in the same sentence that way.

I do recommend going down it at least once, if 4546b had a travel guide that place would be one of the top listed. More so when traveled down.

It's way too dark. I always go there for the wrecks and life pod in the area, but it's physically painful to stare at that darkness.
I absolutely hate that place, and the underwater mountains.
The blood kelp trench is dark, but at least you are enclosed by walls and that makes me feel safer.

So, I know this is a noob question, but how many entrances to the Lost River are there?

I've counted 4 from this conversation, but I've only found 2 so far.

I'm off to go look for the one in the Blood Kelp Zone!

I think four is it.

There are six I know of. Some may cross paths into another entrance that is considered shared?

LP12
LP13
LP19 has 2
LP2
Degasi 500m base

I'm not sure where you got that list, but that is not correct (e.g., LP13 is in the Mushroom Forest and L19 is in the Sparse Reef; neither biome contains any entrances to the Lost River)

There are four entrances to the Lost River that I'm aware of:
- Deep Grand Reef (near the 500m Degasi base; not near any LPs)
- Blood Kelp Trench (western side; not near any LPs)
- Northern Blood Kelp zone (southwest of LP2)
- Bulb Zone (north of LP12)

I didn't get the list anywhere. I found them on my first playthough and remembered roughly where they were.

Yes, from LP13 in mushroom forest, go n-ne to the edge of the MF and head straight down to the lost river. It's closer to LP2, than 13, but I found it from LP13 searching for Cyclops parts one day, along with the wreck in the shroom tree.

Yes, Blood Kelp trench, that is where I found LP19 to the S-SE. Maybe I found second one E-SE through the back side of the Degasi base there is a wreck there.

I am looking at a Subnautica Interactive Map and trying to remember my routes. lol LP13 may run into the same path as LP2.

I'm not trying to be purposely difficult, but the first one you're describing is actually the Northern Blood Kelp Zone entrance. It's about 400m north-northeast from LP13. That's pretty far. (It's about 100m from LP2.)

The second one you're describing, the Blood Kelp Trench entrance, is about 500m northwest of LP19, so again I don't consider this very close.

Yeah, the Interactive map has the entrances marked. But while we're on the subject of the Interactive Map -- switching topics here -- one thing I've never explored in-game is that the Interactive map seems to depict five entrances to the Jellyshroom Cave, but I feel like the wiki and all the other sources mention only four...

It's really irrelevant. They are just locations that lead to the entrances. The actual entrances seem to only be 4, so it seems we can take more than 4 paths to reach them all.

There are a lot of entrances into the jellyshoom cave. I never kept track and usually use the one at the end of the Auroa as it's usually closest to the starting LP.

I came to the conclusion that the bulb zone entrance is the easiest way into the Lost River. Even though it is furthest away from my base. (I live on the floating island).
The only thing I don't like about the bulb zone is that it's in between the mountains and the crash zone. It takes just a little mistake to end up as reaper food.
Definitely the Bulb zone entrance for me. Once in there are lots of resources (including table coral and acid mushrooms) in the area before the Shadow Leviathon. I build a base near a smoker and build either 1 or 2 thermal gens or a Nuke gen and a Moonpool with upgrade station. and scanner room to locate nickel and Cayanite. Put in a water filtration unit, add an outdoor planter and grow Creep vines and you are sustainable. Usually just enough catanite on the walls below the Shadow Leviathon chamber. Then I can make the depth upgrades for the cyclops and Prawn. I can swap them out without surfacing. The next section is the shortest route to the QRF. That channel has many basic materials. from there to the Junction. Fewest threats and most resources

The Bulb Zone is my favorite since it provides a shortcut to the ALZ. In fact, you can swim all the way from the surface of the ocean to the final containment facility using the SeaGlide with just two one-room bases along the way for air (I hate taking the PRAWN/Cyclops down there if I don't need to). However, this entrance bypasses the Giant Cove Tree, which is my favorite spot for a Lost River base.

What? How can you get to the lava castle without going past the giant cove?
