tried 3 times so far and failed each but after first time i wanted revenge so its hard to let go :D
edit: are there not any harpoon in game? want one with a nuclear warhead
If you are really stubborn, you can kill things but it will take a long time, and you won't get any reward for it.
@Smokey
You can, but you need to hit it around 125 times with the knife.
Stasis Rifle + Knife = big game hunter ... shoot, knife, repeat. Can immobilize and slaughter almost everything, save for leviathin-class creatures (leviathins, trench walkers, crab worms). Pair with recharge fins, and rifle will always be at full charge from swimming.
Gravity gun + Gasopod Spores = "Gun". Suck up a gasopod gas blob spore. Shoot it at things. Do it enough, and the thing will die.
Once you can make gas torpedos, your seamoth or prawn can start to murder things with the gas cloud they generate.
Game pushes you for non-violent solutions, though...
Vortex torpedoes will whisk things away.
Putting floaters on things will be amusing as they have a hard time swimming. Put enough on something, and it rises to the surface against its will.
Ultra glide fins pretty much let you outrun everything. Can be hard to fan (scanning fragments) and need adv crating table to make, though. But, once you have them, you can just ignore everything.
Easy early option is making a seaglide. Sucks up inventory space, but helps you blow past hostile creatures easily.
Biggest help is to just learn what radius things become hostile, and give them a wide berth.
I've played the game a lot, and haven't really had an issue with hostile creatures unless I'm getting up in their face. Even when I'm farming stalker teeth, I'll just monitor their swimming habits, see where their "nest" is, and then go throw titanium ship plating near them so they can carry it around until teeth fall out.
The game really wants you to try to examine creature behaviours and work around them instead of you just solving all your problems with a gun.
My seamoth load-out usually has me hauling around a stasis rifle just in case I need it. I never need it. With fast fins and observation of creature behaviour, you can easily stay safe. Air and food are a bigger concern for staying alive.
i like running away from stuff
it actually makes them feel like a threat
Ba-dum-bump...
