This issue is really putting me off this game.
It's understandable though. More than one or two tanks is just on the edge of being silly if you seriously think about it. How many tanks would an actual diver in the real world use at maximum unless he's just joking?
You can swim fairly long distances with a Seaglide, a single plasteel-tank and ultraglide-fins in stable right now.
The only times I use multiple tanks stacked in my inventory are basically the first steps before I can build a Seamoth.
And sometimes they go with 3 tanks.
And why must I be forced to use the seamoth? The whole "only one tank" stinks of removing options for players in the game.
Yeah! Let's petition them for pure realism. First let's get rid of all that scrap metal, no way we're dragging 4 pieces of that around on the ocean floor in real life. Maybe they can add a drag mechanic so we have to slowly, over the course 6 real life days, drag each piece to our first base. Ore has got to go too, if 6 pieces = 1 habitat then how does it fit in a pocket? Lies and deceit, that's how! Also not sure why the devs completely avoided a skin pruning mechanic. Seems like a consipiracy against aquatic living and an egregious oversight that ruins my immersion. And a spaceship... a SPACESHIP!? Space travel doesn't belong in Subnautica: Totally Realistic Diving Simulator 3000. I think the developers have much an answer for.
I am not asking for realism in a game, I am saying the devs are further limiting our options on how the player wants to play the game. So now, we are going to be limited to one tank. That is one tank on your back, and none in your inventory. Have you EVER tried to search a big wreck with only one tank? It is almost not feasible on the more complex wrecks.
Also seen a lot of ppl in YouTube miss data pads and pads bc they rush look around w 1 tank.
I've played something like 70+ hours of Subnautica and didn't know you could stack tanks until I read *this* post. So yes, I've done everything in game with a single tank as recently as the last major drop. Before I have the high capacity tank I use the oxygen pumps and pipes to help with wrecks. After I have the high capacity tank I don't have any trouble.
Also if you read the first quoted post above the devs simply removed the need to store 3 wee tanks by giving you a completely viable alternative in the form of 1 large tank with the capacity of 3. Wasn't that update from like a year ago? That sounds like a completely reasonable alternative that removes nothing except the pain of trying to explain why there is only 1 item in game that stacks.
Yes this change makes the game slightly harder. Everyone who wants the game to be easier and has a problem with it being harder raise your hand.
