^^^ that even starts with one of my favourite tracks, too.
However the ones that are used in trailer are rarely used in game, but the general theme is exactly that techno style with addition of watery themes. It goes very well with the game since you know... You are on in the distant future surivivng in alien ocean. The music fits perfectly.
There's a lot of very spooky compositions too.
I suspect that 90% of the people that read the first half of this comment wont get the joke. I'm ok with this.
When the full game is released you get the full soundtrack for free for buying into EA :). I'm pretty excited for it.
Thanks for your answers. So, it's actually very different, than trailer music. It's still electronica but much more tame and actually pretty cool.
I must admit, its a very strange decision made by devs, to put such a heavy techno/dance tune in trailer, witch sounds like something that would find its place in rave halls. I'm sure it did put a lot of people off, as it did with me. Until yesterday, I had this game marked as "Not interested", most likely because of it.
Lol, hypocrisy much?
The track is called "Abandon ship" and its very cool in my opinion.
In any case i'm happy that you came into piece with the game, but droping the game because you didn't liked trailer music seems like a weird choice. You can always turn off the music and play your own in steam player. I do that with some games as of recently, just to make the experience smoother.
That said, we get a lot of feedback from viewers of our Subnautica trailers that the music was their favorite part.
brb.
UPDATE
It actually plays a few different songs from the trailers, neat. I'mma keep setting fire to this thing just to jam.
I get your intentions and I do know that that kind of music is very popular among certain groups of (especially young) people, but I still think that this particular tune is a pure choice to put in trailer.
After all there's a reason why we never see that kind of "love it, or hate it" music sub-genres not just in trailers but in games in general. It doesn't only apply to techno dance but also death metal, or arythmic jazz. Many people love these, but most can't stand it.
Unless you'd want to accentuate the theme, like for example heavy metal music in trailer for very "metal" Slain Back from Hell.
Basically I think you'd be better off going for something more neutral next time.
lol DAT ♥♥♥♥ GUD, but we all have our tastes in music
The only time you hear music like that is in the beginning of the game when you wake up, and it plays softly, also you will only be in that scene for 3 seconds unless you dont know how to use a mouse
theres also some kind of alien ambience that you problably think is horrible too when you enter those big "bases" trying not to spoil.
The music in game is very relaxing, you should give a listen
How do you not like the trailer music? i demand a -20% discount for this man
