If you want somewhere that's all looks over pratical you would most likely want to make it on the floating island to the south, theres another fourm post on here where some one else already did that in creative mode if you want to see.

The safe shallows might not look very intresting at first, but wait to see how it looks at night.

The kelp forests have some nice colour to them. But the stalkers will run off with your camera drones though.

But really it comes down to what you meen by "best looking". After all "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". For me this was the best looking spot.

In view of the wreck (out of shot to the left of where the picture was taken) and right next to a hole to the mushrooms caves.

I love the grand reef. There's something about the atmosphere of that place, with the membrane trees, jellyrays and the huge glowing blue plants, that really captures my mood. There are some nice ledges close to the volcanic vents down there that offer great views down into the valleys and also up into the ocean above.

In amongst the mushroom trees in either of the two mushroom biomes for me. That place looks gorgeous and ethereal at night.

The Grand Reef looks beautiful, too, but the allure of the slightly less-attractive Deep Grand Reef takes a lot out of that. I don't know why I am drawn to caves so much regardless of how they look inside.

The Lost River has some very nice areas, too, like the tree grove and the area around the giant tree.

I am also very tempted to say the Jellyshroom Cave because it does look very beautivul, mysterious and tucked-out-of-the-way but I don't recommend it because the crabsnakes living there will make your time miserable unless you stay inside at all times.

I've got one in the Giant Cove Tree area near lost river.

Right next to two thermal vents. Nice stopping point for getting into lava area or back out to lost river. Depth is 900m IIRC.

Yeah i had one there too. Lots of Titanium and the Nuclear material (forgot name) spawns there too so it's a good little harvesting base.

I think i'll go check out the koosh zone. It looked pretty nice the few times i went there.

The Great Reef and Lost River are sadly not going to be safe neighbourhoods for much longer.

In my old save i had a base in the grand reef and another in the lost river. I think i won't go on that save for a while X)

I was thinking of making something on top of around the giant mushroom tree, but I'll do that when I'll start a creative save.

The mushroom forest is so far my favourite biome in the game tbh

An underwater islands base would be my choice.
