Report a translation problem
The vine was just the top bit and the root was...Well, the overgrown roots. When they came out of the ground they would just twist up with each other until they found their way back into the ground.
You would need a very....Odd growbed for that to work. Not saying it wouldn't be fun.
That and the way that no matter which plant you took a seed from you got the same plant growing in the bed.
And that's been the logic I worked with.
