Reaper Fears
Okay, so I have watched a lot and I say a lot of Subnautica lets plays and I am terrified to go anywhere out of the shallows even if it is not a technical reaper spawn point. Will anyone help i have read a lot about reapers and it just makes me more terrified. I think i am going crazy. I'll just quit playing that will work.

HELP!!!!!

Keep your Seamoth in repair and you can usually survive a single attack from a Reaper. And as Suzaku said, as long as you have a Seaglide in your inventory (check your batteries!) you can always outrun them in a straight line.

Also know that Reapers are antagonized by lights; turning your Seamoth's lights off will help you remain undetected.

One of the best places to find them is near the Aurora's stern. Quietly edge your way around and you'll find one. They're really quite beautiful to watch swim, so well worth checking out. Just don't feed them. :)

Go North and NorthWest at first into the central plain and its Western edge. No reapers and lots of minerals to harvest.
In fact you can go most anywhere out of the shallows without meeting reapers except for behind the Aurora and right next to the junction of the shallows, a creepvine forest, and the western mushroom forest.
That leaves most of the map free and clear to explore at your leisure.

What about going to the aurora. Everywhere I read it says there are 2 or sometimes 3 reapers on your way there.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I have logged 32 hrs on Subnautica and have never been to the aurora.

Do you have a Seaglide? If so, you're faster than a Reaper. If one comes at you, just swim away. It's literally that easy.

Yes, but I am worried
about my sea moth being destroyed and I did not know a seaglide was faster, thanks.

yeah theres a large dune where a reaper patrols and over by the aurora, the rest are ghost leviathans in the deeper parts of the map. but they are far more surviveable and more predictable than the reaper. but i can go a whole run without running into reaper problems. its just keeping your eyes open and looking around.
Suzaku Mar 25, 2019 @ 9:20pm
A reaper attack does about 80% damage to a seamoth. Keep it fully repaired, and you'll be able to survive an attack. It's scary, but he does leave you alone for a good 10-15 seconds after an attack, giving you plenty of time to escape.

You're not missing much. Pretty much everything outside the shallows is ugly.

Reaper leviathans use echolocation to find and catch their prey. You will literally HEAR them as they SEE you, this is a warning signal. There is no terrifying voice? Good, you are outside of the hunting grounds. You hear that? Well, it's time to be on guard or to show the swimming records.

Don’t go near the back or the front of the aurora and don’t dive to deep near the alien building on the mountain island and you should be fine. Ghost leviathans aren’t that scary because you can see them from far away. The sea dragon almost ignores you because how tiny you are. So you should be fine and save alot.
Hope this helps
Ps go to the floating island you will get the statis gun fragments and this allow you to stun them. There is only a small ghost leviathan there
And like i said the are not that scary

The sea dragon doesn't ignore you more than anything else, it's just so big in a cavern with so few points of reference that it's further away than it seems a lot of the time.

Remember that Subnautica uses two tools to inspire fear: soundtrack and shaders. About an hour and a half ago I was cruising away from the island and the music turned evil. I'm in blue waters, nothing around me, spend about a minute trying to check the cameras and engine and whatnot, then the PDA tells me I just entered a terrifying biome. I dropped a couple hundred meters and watched the water turn grey, even the water above me, and then supposed-to-be-creepy plants appeared out of the murk that didn't used to exist. The illusion was absolutely shattered.

If you're really having anxiety issues, crank down the music volume and get sonar on your subs.

If you find yourself in a trench with murky water and lots of noise, then you will meet a reaper. Head SouthWest ASAP! There is one reaper at the other end but it can be avoided.

I have more problems with bonesharks and especially ampeels than reapers.

You still don’t really need to worry about them since at that point you’re “ gear” should be great.
