Is there any easy way to find Nickel and Crystalline Sulfur? Specifically in the Lost River.
I have a Seamoth with Depth Mk3 (preferred vehicle, however I know how the lost river can get to be pretty deep, but I made it decently far in with only a few encounters with Warpers (Kharaa Bacterium) and some Crabsquids and I also grabbed one Sulfur from under a bit of green goo, however it hurt me pretty bad while retrieving it, and made me use a Medkit. I've seen some big pieces of Nickel that can be retrieved using the Prawn Suit Drill Arm (which I have, but to use it and get back up to my base I would need the Jump Jet Upgrade (which also needs Nickel :/) and one of my only options would be to use the Cyclops. I just built it. Like, literally JUST built it. I have virtually no experience with it whatsoever and I'm afraid of it being torn apart by Ghost Leviathans, Warpers, Crabsquids, etc. Help??!

Also, your seamoth is capable of getting to the area with big tree and blue water in Lost River. That area is very safe, and you'll find plenty of nickle using your seaglide while your seamoth is waiting for you up at 890m. It will work, and, since you're more confident in the seamoth, it will give you the nickle you need to get your PRAWN and cyclops ready for the big move to down below. I rather like exploring that alien lab in my seamoth... it can wiggle into even the tightest spaces and I don't have to worry about oxygen while exploring.

Either way, you're on the right track. Nickle is hard to see, a small ore that you usually have to be pretty close to to even notice. But, taking the cyclops down with lots of resources and building a scanner room will make life so much easier for collecting the Crystalline sulfur and nickle, you'll kick yourself for not just doing it anyway.

If you run your cyclops on slow, you'll almost have to rub up against the leviathans to get their attention. Seriously, patience, no lights, silent running, and, like was mentioned above, use your cameras to help guide you through tight places. The cyclops is very forgiving and, even if it gets damaged, you can repair it. Practice with your PRAWN a LOT, before you go down. The more you practice, the better and more confident you'll be. I promise!

Fill your cyclops with everything that your base has; food/water, fabricators, extra power cells, lockers, and your prawn. Bring it down to the Lost River and gather up everything that interests you. The other creatures barely make a dent, but if a leviathan comes at you, move slow and maybe with Silent Running on, or just kick it up to flank speed (at most 20 seconds or you may start a fire), and outrun it. If you're not doing well with fleeing, turn off the engines and play dead until it leaves you alone.

Or, go to lifepod #2, turn south and go into the big cave. There you will find a brine swamp full of what you are looking for.

The brine is also caustic to everything but the prawn suit. Crystalline sulfur seems to be found in greater quantities deeper down the lost river into the area past the alien building, but the brine part is definitely safer than deep in.
The trick to the cyclops is to pilot by the cameras in tight areas. Finding the decoy launcher upgrade definitely helps. Whenever a leviathan gets near, launch a decoy, go slow, and use silent running sparingly.

I suggest bringing your cyclops as far down as possible at your stage of development and docking your seamoth to it. Once you're far enough down go further in your seamoth. Don't go anywhere near the middle of the river because there are mostly just big chunks you need a prawn suit for and you'll attract a lot of attention. If you have the Prawn Suit drill arm and are confident enough go ahead and get those big chunks of stuff. But I advise against it. Stick to the sides of the cave and avoid all predators. But never, ever go on silent running mode in your cyclops because in ten minutes you can waste 60 percent of your battery. But just most of all be careful

An easy way to harvest crystalline sulphur without a prawn suit and excessive use of medkits is to use the gravity trap to pull the sulphur out of the brine.
