You're best options are to build a stasis rilfe, shoot it in the face (the one part of it the shot will connect with) and stab it until it dies. It's easier to shoot it with a quick shot, then ones you got it follow that up with a fully powered shot.
Or ifyou have a prawn with a grapple, use that. It's more fun.
Or use a console command to insagib it.

Using these will disable your steam achievements until you next save-quit-load the game.
As to the "why" it's there, that's easy. Something likely hurt it enough that it needed to runaway.
When anything in this game tries to run away they will do so to the maps 0.0 point (i.e. the middle of it). Most don't make it that far and stop off somewhere on the way, but some do make it there like your new friend.
So your options are to either move the base or kill it.
About critters going to map point 0,0,0 I always build a base there and equip it with tables, chairs, vending machine, and coffee machine so I can enjoy the show in comfort.
