True dat. In the timespan between when I got that message about the radiation irreversibly affecting the ecosystem in less than 24 hrs, and when I actually REPAIRED the engines on the Aurora, I must have spent about two weeks just gathering supplies, building my base, and making new gear.
If you repair it right away (very soon after the explosion) the radiation will disappear in about a day. If you wait longer, it can take up to 3.4 in-game days to disappear.
