How distinct is the noise? I ask because I don't want to be in a situation where I hear the noise, but I end up thinking that it's something else.
Drag a grav trap through the Kelp forests, especially near piles of scrap metal. Use Prop cannon to drag it around. Can also drag through shallows but there's a lot of other stuff it will grab... easier with this method in kelp.
Or like guys above said scanner works well, I just hate using them, they seem to slow my game down and I kind of like the "Hunt" for materials without a GPS...
Or just check the ground near piles of scrap in Kelp, stalkers are always loosing teeth as they pick up and drop the scrap, remember physics makes things roll down hill and grass can hide things...
Be sure you have the scanner HUD upgrade, so you can see teeth all over the seafloor without needing cameras.
But I've mostly found it easier to swim close to stalkers (trying to dodge them) as they picked up metal wreckage. Sooner or later one breaks a tooth and I grab it. The first kelp forest I tried wasn't productive but another one dropped them everywhere.
I carry a full scanner room and power reactors around in my Cyclops and deploy as needed.
Having this mobile scanning capability is huge.
Go get some!
