Lifepod 12
So, I've had the signal for Lifepod 12 for ages, but I've never been there. That's because it's in the Bulb Zone and when I was there once, I saw a Reaper. So. Should I try to go there again now that I have Stasis Rifle, Cyclops, and other stuff. I'm currently planning to go the PCF, that's how far I am in the game, but I haven't been to Lifepod 12.

The closest reaper to that lifepod is near the Aurora which is not very close to the lifepod. It should be safe.

I noticed that myself early on but went back later in the game and came in from a different area instead of directly in front of the Aurora

Mind you I had attacked the reaper at the front of the Aurora early on in the game while in a Seamoth. I was testing torpedoes on it from within the Aurora hull area and it followed me in, so maybe it didn't get back out
You can stun them very briefly with a stasis rifle and hit them with a knife but it takes so long I just avoid them. The repulsion cannon is effective on them as well
But unlike in the early game play, a Reaper can destroy your Cyclops

no reapers near 12. ur biggest threat is going to be bonne sharks and ampeels. alone with mesmers and possibl;y bleeders. biters too im pretty sure

my mainbase is several hundred meters away from 12 near the mountain biome. theres a reaper near the base but unless u go looking for him or simply head in his direction. he doesnt seem to care

Yeah, the biggest problem with going to lifepod 12 is protecting your vehicle from the bonesharks and ampeels while you are off exploring.

to those it might concern: visiting lifepod 12 is doable with a seamoth, but exploring the area is not safe as a leviathan might appear. Conclude the business quickly and leave in the direction of pod 5 immediately.

Reapers Can be near pod 12 (and 13) because they can be 'bumped' into a shove that sends them hundreds of meters away, just like your Cyclops or Moth can be.

If you start each trek to a pod from the starting area, you should never see any hostile leviathans. until pod 2, where you might find a ghost leviathan.

The safest way to do it is to start each trip to a pod from the starting area. Going in a straight line from that area to the pod tends to send you through safe areas.
Going from pod to pod is much more risky.

As to the other hostiles around 12...
You can always staisis them and slash them to death with a knife. It takes a while with ampeals, but bonesharks are, i believe, the lowest in health of all predators.

And they don't respawn, despite the appearance that bonesharks do when an ungrouped shark will move in after you kill a group member - taking that dead shark's place in the territory of the group.

There are rarely more than 2 unattached bonesharks in an area, other than the floating islands, so once you've killed a couple of 'replacements' you're removing sharks from the area for the rest of the game.
