Do Reapers take Seamoths home?
I was puttering around on the east side of the Aurora with my brand new Seamoth.
I stepped outside to grab some minerals, and within seconds there was a roar and a whoosh behind me, when I turned around the Seamoth was gone.

After I got myself up onto the sand embankment, and got oriented, I saw the beacon for the Seamoth, but it seemed to be coming from around 150m under the Aurora's mid-section.

I lost a second Seamoth (with me inside it) to the Reaper who hangs around near the engines of the Aurora, when trying to recover the first one.

So I'm wondering if it's a known thing where Reapers will drag unoccupied Seamoths down into caves? Should I even invest time and effort into trying to find it (or is it likely stuck in the sand where you can't get to it without the debug panel)? I've already built Seamoths III and IV, which is one more than I really need.

Reapers still have the bug where they clip through the ground a lot. It probably grabbed your seamoth and ran underground with it. Nothing you can do to grab it i don't think.

EDIT: Typo fix

The seamoth has a nasty habit of getting stuck underground when it either A: is left unattended or B: hitting something really fast and/or at an akward angle (more rare)

Most likely stuck in the ground but this would be a interesting mechanic, reapers acting like stalkers and stealing your things (Seamoths instead of cameras)

I've had a Seamoth sink into the beach of the Floating Island. That may be similar to what happened here, but I definitely left it while it was floating freely in deep water, about five meters from a nearly vertical wall of sand. And there was definitely a Reaper in the mix. When I turned around and got my act together, the Seamoth was just gone.

Aww Reapers are just really big stalkers who don't know their own strength because they've never seen you before. <3

But yes, I've had a Prawn suit pushed through the floor before by an angry reaper, mostly because I was trying to stasis him to escape. I just imagined it as the force of the impact being so great the Prawn Suit was just buried.

Another common clipping issue is that the Reaper near my base (I call him Franny) constantly attacks this Warper near the sea floor and I always see them disappear through the sea floor.

Just be careful. If a Reaper grabs your Seamoth it's as good as gone anyway.

The one behind the engines grabbed my seamoth. I heard the roar, turned & saw it grab the moth. I followed as quick as I could and jumped into it as soon as the reaper let it go. Then booked out of there... lived thru every attack so far (4).

It would be rather interesting if the reaper leviathans would steal your vehicles rather than destroying them, possibly even dragging destroyed cyclops to wherever their 'nest' was. Then again, the reaper is described as having a small brain that isn't capable of much thought, so this would be out of character for them.

Just a thought: If a Reaper did take your Seamoth under the map floor with it, I would still expect to see a PING signal from it. A rock pillar ate my Seamoth once when I parked it near the pillar and exited. The Seamoth itself was gone when I reloaded but the PING signal was still there. I had to spawn in a terraformer to get it out.

Reapers do have the capacity to destroy your Seamoth with one grab if you aren't in it so I am betting your Seamoth got destroyed while you weren't looking.

No, there's still a beacon signal for it, which is how I know it seems to be under the Aurora.

If that is the case then you can still get it. You should be able to use the terraformer or the dig command to get it, then as soon as you've gotten your Seamoth you can return above ground, save, exit and reload to get your terrain changes reset.

Type "Item terraformer 1" or "Dig # (# is the diameter of your hole)" into the console to access these commands.

I would love to have a moth blow up in a reaper's mouth and I wish resoruces respawned even if VERY slowly, then I would just a Subnautica Dude vehicle screw up roll with it and rebuild instead of reloading the save.
