How do I dodge the damn sea dragons in the activate lava zone with a prawn

There's not much to do in the active lava zone so just sprint and get in there :p
Otherwise try to aggro them from afar so they send the fireballs at you that do a lot less damage and miss a lot of the time.

I'm curious though, where are you trying to go? Are you drilling for resources in there or something?

If you stay close to the ground you shouldn't even encounter them. If you're looking for the entrance to the active lava zone and the precursor thermobase, you should be able to find it without being attacked by them, aside from when you enter it.

There's 2 roaming in that area but they can easily be avoided by staying near the outer edges of the zone or on the floor.

@OP The sea dragon has AMAZING detection range compared to everything you are used to seeing.
It will see you if you can see it; the only thing you can hope for is that whatever is closer to it than you is something it wants to attack.

The prawn suit is tough, so just keep moving while it's attacking until it gives up, then go back to doin what you want.
It loses interest after around 30 seconds.... sometimes less if you are in a dip in the ground surrounded by spikes of terrain.

To my knowledge EVERYTHING in this game is killable... just that the devs put such low damage on all the things we can use as weapons, compared to the big enemies hitpoints, that there's no reasonable chance of doing it.

You can kill a reaper leviathan with the prawn, but it'll take 15 minutes or more.
You can kill a reaper levithan with knife + statis gun but it'll take a long ass time too!

Pretend you are playing Neverwinter Nights in HoTU and are a level 30 Wizard, but the only spell you got is magic missile; that's basically subnautica as far as weapons are concerned. >..>
