You can't make this sort of thing up. Welcome to the 0.1% I guess.
Technically true to their word, as they didn't get the game in a better state first.
So I gues you'll have to wait until the fix pop in, people falling through the ground, and sea dragons clipping into the last alien base killing you indoors and all the other year+ problems still in launch. Until VR is finally enough of a priority to fix the UI, interacting with the aroura keypads being a huge pain, etc.
Though I expect VR polish will come sooner. As it is probably easier to fix by comparison to a ton of the other QA issues people have been reporting long, LONG before launch.
It's a real shame too, because ther is so much of an underlying AMAZING game that it being launch in this state is just sad to watch.
The view of the hud inside the Seamoth or Prawn is what really should be seen everywhere else. The Hud is stationary while viewing in the Seamoth/Prawn (alowing one to move away or closer to see it better)...but follows the character everywhere else, making it seem to be right in your face. The Devs just need to program the Hud to be stationary in the z-axis (everywhere) so we can either move forward or backward (within reason) to self adjust view. Not that hard of a task to do...since it's already there as described in the Seamoth/Prawn.
Not sure how they can measure the VR player base when they still have work to do on it. Been waiting for the full release, before playing the game in VR this time. Seems like I might have to wait a little longer, assuming they'll be addressing these issues at all.
Didn't I once hear that you can change your FOV to make things more readable?
I can live with the close UI (not that I like it but I can live with it). I can't live with the scanner room bug, which prevents you from ever stopping a current scan because you can't press the 'X'. It works fine on a flatscreen. It's a major VR bug though.
But I find the attitude of the devs on fixing them infuriating, because it must be the single most complained about title I've yet seen. So many people desperately want to be able to be able to play it comfortably in VR but have been putting it off. The devs don't see it as any kind of priority to do even simple things like pushing the interface further away so it's actually readable.
It's a ridiculous catch-22. "We won't fix our game because nobody is playing it in VR" vs "We'd love to play your game in VR if only you'd fix it so we could".
It's put me off buying Below Zero at all, which is a real shame as Subnautica is truly an awesome, immersive experience. But I have to vote with my wallet on this one.
