Confused and wondering where to go next (big SPOILERS! with tags)

I received an AI message written like this:

"Scans show extensive cave networks below the surface in this area, accompanied by unusal energy signatures."

But the actual audio was this:

"Detecting a titanium mass somewhere in this area. Unable to confirm whether it originated on the Aurora..."

Aside from the fact that "Aurora" doesn't end with a full stop and seems to suggest there was more but the dialogue got cut off, the text doesn't match the audio. And I can't remember whereabouts I received this message.

Was it while I was Lifepod 2 (CTO Yu's lifepod)? Or the Proposed Degasi habitat at 500m down (where the fossil is)?

I've been to the enforcement platform and found how to switch it off but cannot because I'm infected right now. However I have activated the gateway here that transports me to the floating island.

With confusion over what the AI said in relation to what's writen in the PDA and forgetting where I was when I received it I'm not sure how to proceed with the story.

Well I went back to Yu's lifepod first and found a cave. Also I only just discovered by pressing F1 I can see what biome I'm in and map coordinates! I only found that out when I hit F1 instead of escape. So the cave is at -570.0, -491.3, 1264.7. In here is a precursor cave with in an inactive gateway/portal guarded by a terrifying creature. I couldn't scan it so no idea what it is but it's big. The area around there says it's a lost river. Since I couldn't use the gateway/portal and there wasn't much else there I headed to the island where the enforcement platform is (where the Sunbeam would have landed).

Managed to get somewhere here and now have some clues to new places to find.

Then I headed back to the Degasi base at 500m. And that's where I left it for now until tomorrow. Sleep now, then work, then back to Subnautica!

When you enter the location in the mountain, you get a message telling you that your PDA has managed to decode the background signal. Read that PDA entry and it tells you where you need to go, albeit in very broad terms.
If you haven't yet, make sure you read it before you start wandering around the Lost River. Depending on the path taken it's easy to miss one or two important locations.

While at the enforcement platform I got a clue to the location of a disease facility. It says it's 800m deep south west of the enforcement platform, I've been there but all I found was a Boneshark breeding ground and thermal vents.

At the Degasi base 500m I found notthing else. I already got the three Ion Cubes from the cave with the giant fossil.

Not sure what to do now. I want to discover where I should be going in the game rather than anyone give me coordinates or something.

You know where you should be going - 800m deep south west of the enforcement platform.

When not sure where to go or what to do next, Go Deeper.

South West is the Bonechark breeding ground, that's all there is. If I continue going south west I end back at in the safe shallows.

Nevermind, I found it. I think. I found lifepod 2 again though it wasn't quite S SW. Then found a cave, although I thought I had already been here and this was the location of the fossil I discovered earlier but now I've found a different fossil. A Sea Dragon.

Im very confused. I think the AI is giving me clues out of sequence, or to things I've already found. I don't know but I'm over 800m deep and if I face my beacon on the island where the enforcement platform is it's N NE and the opposite of that is S SW so I guess this is the right place I need to be.

You are in the right area.

Also the clues are not in any set order. They are triggered entirely by where you go and what you do, but they roughly lead you in the right direction.

Yep it was the right place, though I neglected to being a certain purple thing with me. Doh!

Still stuck. Not getting or finding anything else. The only clue I have in the PDA is the containtment facility 1200m deep but I have no idea where that is and I've been scooting around everywhere and just seem to end up at the same places or I end up dropping down into the abyss of the Dead Zone and killed by Ghost Leviathans.

I've been to the disease facility, found a small cave in a crater with what looks like a meteorite in the centre, the cave just contained some Ion Cubes. I've been to the Lost River, seen all the frighteningly large fossils and explored the alien facility here. and I've been inside the ship.

I'm lost, still infected and no clue where to go. I've got a Cyclops but other than the Dead Zone haven't found anywhere deep enough to need it.

I've read all the entries in my PDA but there are no clues there either. I think it's bugged and I've missed something.

When you visited the Disease Research Facility you were very close to where you needed to go next.

Go back down into the Lost River but instead of turning east at the Sea Dragon skeleton to get to the Disease Facility, keep going North (the way you were going when you entered that area). The deeper zones are beyond the Cove Tree right in front of you.

Some spoilers of my own here - probably gonna save you some backtracking if you read these first, but you don't have to if you want to continue on your own:
You need advanced Depth Module Upgrades to proceed past the Cove Tree. Recommend you get the Cyclops Mk 2 and Prawn Mk1, and be prepared to craft the Cyclops Mk3 and Prawn Mk2 modules *on board the Cyclops* after retrieving the special material you will need for those from the deeper zones. These will require you to build a Modification Station *on your Cyclops*.

you missed the cove tree in the lost river, it's another way to go much deeper.

Ah, I did find the cove tree before but didn't realise there was an area past it! One small problem I appear to have gotten this far into the game (and approx 60 hours) with only 3 parts to the Prawn!

If you visited the Aurora there were 4 pieces there in the PRAWN Bay, enough for the blueprint. If you didn't get all 4 from the Aurora you can go back for the fourth piece or just explore some more wrecks. The one in the Dunes should have some, so should the Underwater Floating Islands wreck (if I remember correctly).

I'm scanning for wrecks now, I know I've missed some. Also I'll nip back to the Aurora - although I was sure I scanned everything I could there.

Off topic, slightly, can I use light sticks or flares to mark a wreck I've previously been to? I started using beacons but had too many of them in the beacons menu. If I've plundered a wreck I don't need a beacon to it just some sort of sign I've been there already.

Reading a lot of conflicting info about light sticks and flares. I dropped a flare 60 hours ago and it's till burning but some players say their flares last only 2 hours. Do light sticks drain power when held or only when planted? Odd that there's no definitive answer online to these questions.
