Is there a trick to finding gel sacks?
I went to the wiki, found out what they looked like. Went to two areas that they are supposed to grow in. NOTHING. Over an hour searching. I need aerogel to build some items, but without gel sacks I am stuck.

Theres quite a few areas to find them in but theres only ever a handful in each area. If you have the beacon for Lt. Keens lifepod (#19) try looking in the area around it. Usually a good number in the caves around him.

Also they can be easier to spot at night because they glow pinkish/purple

Go to the northern mushroom forest, find the biggest tree, look along and around it's base. You'll find a couple there.

Extra tip: Knife one a couple times to get seeds so you can replant them and have an infinite amount.

Try looking in Mushroom Forest, you'll sometimes find Gel Sacs lying around, especially the larger mushrooms.

Or, go a bit deeper. You'll also find Gel Sacs to the South, in Deep Grand Reef, or to the north-east in the Koosh zone (or whatever they named it to, the one with the pretty golf ball trees).

Failing that, deeper still. Gel Sacs are pretty common in Lost River.

As an added tip, don't pick it up when you find one, hit it with a knife instead, then you can grow 4 at home in an exterior grow bed. At least, I believe this is how it works.

They can be hard to spot if you don't know exactly what you're looking for and/or if they're sitting in some sea grass. You probably looked right at a few and didn't realize it.

If you have Commander Keen's Lifepod 19 signal you can always find a couple right next to that pod.

Your life would be made so much easier if you went to an area that has gel sacks, then construct s scanner room and have it locate the gel sacks for you.

Nope, seasarched the mushroom forest from one end to the other. Nothing. I must not know what I am looking for. The wiki has a picture, but there is nothing even remotlely looking like that anywhere I have searched. Maybe they are not spawned into my map. I ahve no idea, but this is game-breaking I can't move forward.

I made a video where to find gel sacs, they are 328 meters though.

Keens lifepod did it. Found one at 267 meters. Thanks everyone.

Remember, if it's difficult to find, knife it, get a sample and plant it at your base. You will need it again and you don't want to spend an hour searching every time.

Little tip, once you find a gel sac, don't use it for aerogel. Chop it up with a knife and put the seeds into an exterior grow bed. Boom, never have to go hunting for sacs again.
