Cyclops

At least it's what I use when I move. Has storage built in and you can create much more.

Is there any other option?

I like using a seamoth with a storage attachment or two. But you might want to use a cyclops or prawn if its either really far down or a giant pile of materials.

Cyclops, build extra lockers in the area behind the cockpit and where the hatch it to enter your vehicle, plus the lockers that are built in and you have your self a cargo vessel.

Are you moving an entire base? Cyclops.

Cyclops.. Or better yet, make the Cyclops your base...

Cyclops. I have like 30 lockers full of resources in mine. :3

Yep. You can really pack the storage in on a Cyclops if you're efficient about it. You can stack wall lcokers double-high in the lower area, and turn the lockers 90 degrees (using mouse scroll wheel) to fit in lots of full-size lockers upstairs.

It's often worth considering how much it is worth breaking down and transporting the old base. How much time is it going to take you to complete the process, vs just building a second base and getting to keep your first one.

Personally I tend to prep a base starting kit in materials i.e. Moonpool, crops, harder to find materials etc. Then just gather up what else I need over there.

It's actually a really fun challenge later game to take only you, your Prawn and what you can carry on both of you, to start an entirely new and self sufficient base where you would never have to go up out of the Lost River again :)

I'd say your backpack is the best method, kinda depends on how much your moving though.

this time around ive been usinng my cyclops to hold most of my stuff. then i make little bases that are mostly just for growing food, filtering water, a moon pool, a scanner room, and a bed. when i build my primary base i will proably move most of the stuff from my cyclops, but until then i just park it next to whatever little base i built and grab what i need from it. i prefer to use fabricators in the bases so as to save batteries in the clops (at least until i get the thermal upgrade). then i do whatever resource gathering i need to do from the base until i have what i need to move the next area. rinse and repeat. i could just break down the bases if i wanted to and bring them in the clops, but i like the idea of leaving small outposts around the map for future travel in lighter faster vehicles.

once i set up may main base (probably in the grand reef) i will move the bulk of the stuff there from the cyclops. this is where i will have my big aquarium and all the plants and whatnot for my collecting everything in the game. this is the only base i will really take the time to craft into something awesome. grand reef is a good staging ground for moving deeper in the river and lava zones. lots of thermal and quick access to later game materials.
