Go to the gun island, in the caves are some diamonds in the rocks you need to break (i say like 20 or so, it's a bit random if your unlucky you get like 5 if your very lucky you get 50).

Diamonds are pretty easy to get, just break shale outcrops. They tend to be at... 200+ meters, so make sure you've got oxygen!

go to the sea treaders path as you will have an unlimited supply of shale crops to farm there. From my observation, they have a 33% chance to drop, next to gold and lithium. Since the supply of shale crops is infinite where sea treaders are, you can easily farm your inventory full of diamonds in a matter of minutes.
